Marmot Bluebird Insulated Jacket - Women's - 2008

Forget about not being able to move comfortably in your ski jacket—the Marmot Bluebird Insulated Jacket uses Marmot’s Angel-Wing Movement design so you can lift your arms without exposing your lower back or torso. Since being wet on the slopes is lame, this jacket has a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex Performance Shell. A zip-off powder skirt and hood mean you can enjoy this insulated jacket downtown as well as on the ski hill, and Zonal MarmaLoft insulation adds warmth where you need it most. The pitzips extend into the body of the Bluebird for serious cooling off.

Bottom Line: Not just for bluebird days.

Nice jacket with a fatal flaw

By:

This jacket has everything a jacket should...ample pockets, nice color options, removeable hood and it's insulated. However, the fact that the hood is not helmet compatible is a big no no for my wife. You can get the hood over the helmet but the front zipper doesn't zip up all the way.

If you don't plan on wearing a helmet this jacket is recommended. If you want to wear a helmet find something else.

I am worried that on the coldest skiing day that this jacket won't do... it's so light... should I have more faith in the Gore Tex material and Marmaloft? Also, is the lapis/deep blue color bright?

With proper layering I think this jacket will be as warm as anything else out there short of a down jacket. The lapis/deep blue color is not bright...it's a nice blue.

Marmot Bluebird-blue color great against white snow!

The jacket is great. Fit is true to size with plenty of room to add layer pieces if needed without it feeling bulky. Quality Construction. The pit zips are good but would have liked a breathable mesh layer once unzipped instead of wide open to the elements. And though the hood has velcro to keep it rolled up when not in use (if you don't want to just take it off the coat) I would have preferred to roll it into the collar with a zipper closure. All in all a terrific coat for the slopes.

I'm between a 10-12. Should I get a M or L in this coat?

I would say a large. I'm an 8, and I wear a medium that's a little on the more fitted side. A large should be good for you.

Love It!

I love this jacket. Fit is true to size (I'm full-figured and there's plenty of room in the chest). Quality Construction. Warm enough for downhill skiing. Love the pit zips which make it a great spring ski jacket - adding layers for colder conditions. And it was a steal on sale.
