Well you can always contact backcountry.com, but if they post the price are $549.55, then that most likely is the price. The other price you found is probably from an old outdated sale, and has not been changed.

This jacket is great! Great color. Great fit. So warm you only have to wear a lightish base layer underneath even at high altitudes on big mountains. If you like being toasty while the winds are howling, this is the jacket for you. Marmot makes great products across the board.

Rab and feathered friends tells you how many grams of down are in there jackets. How many grams of down is in the Marmot 8000 parka? Thanks, Mark

I just received the answer from Marmot. They have 546 grams of 800 fill down in the large Marmot 8000m parka. 19.17 oz in other words, this jacket will be close to a Feathered Friends Rock and ice parka which is 609 grams (21.4oz) of 850 + down fill which is over $725.
