The Marmot Men's 8000M Pants provide the high-loft warmth you need to visit the highest, coldest places on earth. The combination of MemBrain waterproof breathable shell and incredibly warm 800-fill insulation make these expedition-grade bibs ideal for places like Everest, K2, or the South Pole. The 8000M Pant's full-length side zips make quick changes easy while wearing boots and crampons, and the reinforced seat and knees give you the kind of durability you need for gnarly ascents. Marmot made the 8000M Pant with baffled construction and an insulated draft tube to eliminate cold spots. Stuff the 8000M Pants in their internal stuff sack for easy storage on your way down from base camp.
Bottom Line: The 8000M Pants keep you warm when you're going to a place where your spit freezes before it hits the ground.
These pants are just superb. Although I hav;nt tried them in higher altitudes, they kept me warm and nice in the cold of Finland for nearly a day without too much physical exercise. Easy to get on and off. I can;t wait to get the parka of the same brand.
These pants are so thick one can hardly move in them. And they need a waist adjustment possibility.
Otherwise, they are the warmest out there and the suspenders are really wide, well designed and comfortable.
Another inch in the inseam would be welcome. But for the absolute extremes of cold, these are it. And they even have a pocket. Just be careful trying to run in them. (-:
Write your question here...I am considering buying one of these to sleep in instead of carrying a sleeping bag and warm clothing, I hunt and is looking at ways to reduce wieght but be comfortable these could maybe do for those cold nights together with a down jacket will have to buy slightly large to ensure my feet is coverd I think
You would save more weight by just using a sleeping bag, man. These don't pack down any smaller than what a 10-15 degree down bag would pack down to. If you were going to use these and a down jacket together, you'd probably be looking at around 4+ lbs. of weight and all kinds of bulk. If you brought along a 15 degree down bag, you'd be looking at a sleek 2.5 lbs.
There are sleeping bag suits that you can wear made by a British company. Here's a link to their website.
Super puffy pants. Because they are so thick and puffy, it would be a good idea to order a size larger. I typically wear S but after reading a few reviews, I ordered M and it fits me just right. The leg inseam section is bit short. Another reason why it is a good idea to order a size up. I tested these pants when I was in Summit, Greenland. They were warmer than my -40F rated sleeping bag. I just slept in these pants! If you are wearing a thick sweater on top, then the suspender will not feel loose or too big (only the case if you ordered a size up).

A draw string waist would have made the difference, since there is only one other pants this warm: the Mt. Hardware Absolute Zero pants, also without a draw string, though the description says it has it. Both went back: Why have all that warmth, if the waist is loose and lets it out???
And the suspenders should be wider and padded, or something, to make them more comfortable. Though the insulation is lightweight down, there is so much of it that the pants weighed heavily on my rather thin shoulders, and annoyed me immensely. They are also stiff-feeling because they are so stuffed so full.
A redesign, making these pants more comfortable and with adjustable waist, would make it a winner......though I could do without the wild coloring.
I bought these for my son who is standing at the base camp of Aconcagua as I write this, so a performance review will follow. The sizing was a little off. Al is 6' 1/2" and 175. We ordered the large, as it fit his measurements. When he tried them on, they were really too short through the crotch. Had to make due because of timing, but XL would have been better.
