My favorite boots to date. These boots are actually made by Raichle...a European boot manufacturer and have apparently been marketed under a number of other brand names. The pair I own were purchased at REI and labeled REI Spirit III's. REI stopped carrying the boot soon after I made the purchase and I was distressed when I thought that they had been discontinued...But now I'm happy to find that they are still in production. These boots have been through many miles in all conditions from hot, dry, deserts to cold, snowy, mountains and they always keep my feet happy. I love the rigid sole and comforting ankle support that this boot offers. I have no blisters to report...only minor hot spots probably due more to my choice in socks than anything else. The toe cap offers a lot more protection for your front end and helps immensely with kicking steps in the snow. I love these boots!

Okay, can i say I put these on out of the box, basiacally wore them on a 10-12 mile hike up Rock Creek out of Toms Place in the Eastern Sierra. Post holed through snow for a ways and plenty of rocky uneven terrain. Not a blister and stayed dry and comfy. The leather linning is what makes these so perfect. Kind of like a custom fit. Highly recommended!

Like all non-goretex boots, they will eventually wet out in wet conditions. Once wet, they will take a long time to dry unfortunately. But if treated properly, they should be fairly waterproof for a few days on wet trail.

The boot is made with waterproof leather (tanned). with some nikwax or other leather waterproofing treatment this boot would be essentially waterproof. These are the old Raichle Mt Crest which is a great boot

Finally boots that fit my feet perfectly, they are great!

Even when carrying a heavy pack over uneven terrain, I I have confidence because these boots have great ankle support, with no side to side sway.

The best part is at the end of the day, I don't feel like I've been wearing heavy backpacking boots all day!
