Mammut Mamook GTX Boot - Men's

For light-and-fast alpine pushes, the Mammut Men’s Mamook GTX Boot gives you the lightweight protection you need to push through difficult technical terrain. A Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane seals out snow and water, while the crampon-compatible Vibram sole tackles slabby approaches as easily as vertical ice. A carbon-fiber shank gives you a rigid support platform without weighing you down, and Mammut’s Internal Motion Control locks your foot in place.

Bottom Line: Tackle tough technical routes in the Mamook GTX.

Are these boots good for vertical ice compared to other boots?

Are these boots good for vertical ice compared to other boots? Is that carbon shank stiff enough?

i've used these boots for vertical ice (some frozen waterfalls) and the boots were real good. the carbon shank is indeed stiff enough. i cannot compare it to other boots as these were my first ice climbing boots.

very light weight boot but feels uber supportive and will climb great on mixed and hard ice. just waiting for the Ouray Ice Park to open. But have hikked a bit in them to break them in and not blister right out of the box on a steep rocky hike. very impressed

one lightweight boot

By:

This is the lightest boot on the market I was told and I beleive it. When the box came thought it was a pair of low tops in the box until I opened it. Fit is really good, looks narrow but I have kind of med-wide feet and fits great. Locker heel fit. Mammut bought Raichle so they know how to make a mountaineering boot.

Do these boots have a removable liner. It says they do, but it doesn't look like it, and I can't find much info on it. I am trying to decide between these or the vasque radiators.

These do not have a removable liner. This is a mistake. The Mammook is a single boot with Gore Tex's Dura Therm insulation package. Also the lightest mountaineering boot on the market currently.

great boot

Sumitted Ranier with these boots on August 14th in unseasonably cold, winter-like-conditions (single digits on summit with 30-35 mph winds); boots kept foot warm for entire climb; footbed also incorporates a memory foam that makes a custom fit every time; normally buy inserts to get that custom feel, not needed in these!

Was there much of a break in period for you with these boots? I just picked up a pair and think they are close to fitting, but maybe too small. How much did the boot lining pack out for you?
