Mammut Bionic Carabiner - 2008
Mammut designed the Bionic Carabiner with a unique shape to help the rope pull tight directly below the sling and load the spine in the strongest orientation. You'll take comfort knowing your 'biner stays locked correctly when you pitch off 20 feet above gear. Mammut also gave the Bionic Carabiner a Keylock gate for extremely easy snag-free clipping and un-clipping. Then they used I-beam construction on the body to reduce the weight to 34 grams.
Bottom Line: Mammut introduces a new design for improved safety with the Bionic Carabiner.
