Mad Rock developed the Phoenix Climbing Shoes to offer incredible comfort and solid performance for everyone from burly trad climbers for first-time gym rats. These stiff shoes provide excellent support on tiny edges or when jammed into a crack. Mad Rock gave them ultra-sticky FX5 rubber to keep you stay glued to the rock when you need to pull down a pitch of technical footwork. The Phoenix Climbing Shoes also include an X-Static lining to reduce stretch (and break-in time) and reduce odor. That's right, no more nasty foot stink.
Bottom Line: Comfort and performance—get them both with the Mad Rock Phoenix Climbing Shoes.
I bought these really cheap to use in the gym, but they weren't as good as my 5.10 so I tried using them outdoors climbin and boulderin and they work amazing! they smear great, work well in cracks, and heel hook like a dream. These are a great pair to have for outdoors when your doin long routes due to comfort.Gym usage is not the best, though.
Good morning, greetings from Colombia, South America.I buy the last month a rock shoes reference “Shark”, size 8,5, but these was small , I want to know how can I know what is my real size for rock shoes, I live in Colombia and make a change is not easy…I like to buy you a pair of “Phoenix”, but I need to know what my real size is. Thanks
Argos,I wear a US 10.5 in street shoes and bought the same size in the "phoenix." I am very satisfied with the fit; they were very snug at first use, but took the shape of my foot quickly. I hope this may help.
the phoenix is a comfortable shoe but it doesn't perform well. the rubber pretty hard and doesn't stick. there are a lot of other shoes comfortable for beginners which perform a lot better.
I have given these shoes a pretty good amount of use in a gym the last few weeks and they are a great shoe for beginners or those trying to get back in to climbing without spending too much money off the go. They have good friction and gets better with every use and very comfortable for the money! A solid investment.
I've had this shoe for about a year now and I love it. It forms to my feet perfectly especially in my arch. They're a bit tight when you first put them on, but as you climb they start to relax a little and feel great.
There were the first shoe i bought. They were great to start out with, but aren't all that great on more technical climbing. The shoe has a lot of flex, even with propper sizing. The good thing about these shoes is that there was little break in time and i could wear them for multiple pitches without wanting to take them off for belaying.
The fit is great, they toe well. I've only had them a month and have worn them outside three times and once in the gym. The rubber is already showing some real wear, so I'm skeptical as to how long I will be wearing them. Other reviews I've read have indicated the same thing. I think I would spend the extra dough next time for a better wearing shoe.
I have worn these quite a bit both outside and more recently inside and they are starting to show their use. They have stretched out a little bit and I am borderline on whether or not I should have ordered a half size down. Either way, use your own judgment. However, on smearing, these simply suck, which I why I am changing my earlier rating of four to three stars. Cracks, edging and toes still work well, but these thing smear like there is vegetable oil spread on the soles. If you plan on smearing a lot, get something else.
Works well in cracks and toes well. Good for novices and beginners, as well as those getting back into their game after a several year absence (like myself), and the price simply cannot be beat. After much debate, I ordered my street shoe size (10) and these fit like a glove and continue to fit like one. Hopefully, it won't stretch out much. Most of my climbing is outdoors, and I have not yet tried these in the gym.
These shoes are great. Affordable price and very comfortable. I buy the same size as my street shoe and can wear them for hours. Plus my footwork sucks so I can easily replace them as fast as a tear 'em up.
I use this shoe in the rock gym. Has worked pretty well for you. Provides a good fit, is a little tight to start but has stretched out nicely. Would recommend this shoe to a beginner.
I have used the shoe outdoors on rocks. I think its a great shoe that offers awesome traction. The shoe fits about half a size small and has a really narrow toe box. Otherwise the shoe is great for edging, smearing and heel hooking.
