My daughter is a size 12.5 and her foot fits nicely in youth size 1. For kids I recommend a size up especially since they grow so fast.

Cheap and effective

I have twin ten year old girls, and I bought these for them. I like the idea of both adjustment points, and the one at the heel doesn't seem to bother either of them. I haven't had any problems with the shoes wearing out, and that even includes the fact that my kids have just started and are still learning about proper footwork. For the most part, if I am going to buy shoes for the kids, to be honest, my first motive it cheapness. They are kids and the shoes will either be grown out of quickly or worn out quickly. Nothing against 5.10 or other brands, but if I can save 20 bucks, then that is 20 more dollars I can spend on other gear. Once the kids learn about rock climbing, learn proper footwork, and consistently enjoy going out and doing it, then I will think about getting something a little more expensive.

Is this shoe wider in the toebox than the 5.10 kid's Moc?

Is this shoe wider in the toebox than the 5.10 kid's Moc? I bought the moc for my 6-year-old niece and she had hot spots on her big toe and pinkie toe.

My kids have not complained of any hot spots, but then again, they are still wearing their shoes with socks.

I've bought a ton of kids climbing shoes. When I found these I thought I had found the holy grail. Unfortunatly the holy grail turned out to be made of tin. Almost immediatly the uppers on the toes started wearing out in a weird way. It's too bad. I like the idea of the adjustable strap at the heal for growing feet. They just don't last long enough for them to grow through. I've since tried Mini Mocs which have proved to be very well thought out and even have the toe protected for those who drag their young feet. Both my kids are in the 5.10's now.

Mel,Most kids are so pumped to get on the wall, they dont focus on using a climbing shoe. Mad rock and other manufacturers offers kids shoes starting at kids size 11 through kids 5. So youll probably need to wait till your daughter is 4 or 5. ------------I taught a class this summer to 3-year-olds, and the smallest sizes of these shoes definitely helped them. it's never too early to start on footwork. Another shoe you could look at is the La Sportiva Shark, which is what we use and fit the 3-year-olds very well.
