MontBell Ultralight Down Inner Jacket - Women's - 2005

The MontBell Women's Ultralight Down Inner Jacket is warmer than a heavyweight fleece and lighter than most base layers, making it perfect for winter climbing trips where weight is paramount. Snap the 15d Ballistic Airlight nylon shell closed and take full advantage of the 725-fill down. Compressing smaller than the size of a water bottle and weighing only 7.4oz (medium), the Ultralight Down Iinner jacket provides excellent insulation in cold weather and hardly is noticeable in your pack.

Bottom Line: Leave your bulky fleece at home and bring the Inner jacket.

Feels Good but Doesn't Look Good

This is so light it's just amazing. However, I can't bring myself to wear this in public. The fabric, though light, is very shiny and noisy; it makes a crinkling noise. It is downright ugly! It is warm, but a zipper would have been nicer than snaps. I continue on my quest for the perfect down sweater.

Positive misnomer : Down

This doesn't look like a jacket but it sure acts like one. I camp, fish, and bird in below zero temps (thank you Arctic Clipper) and I use this liner like a security blanket. It's warmer and less bulky than the Eddie Bauer down and my Cabella's parka. How does a super thin jacket get so warm? Wait, I don't care, just make more.
