MSR Blacklite Gourmet Cookset - 2007

Prepare multi-course meals at base camp or on car-camping adventures with MSR's BlackLite Gourmet Cookset. This cookset includes 1.5- and 2-liter pots, a 7.2-inch fry pan and more. The BlackLite cookware combines the easy-to-clean properties of a nonstick coating with featherweight aluminum, so you can bring along multiple pans without feeling like you're packing the kitchen sink. This MSR cookset's lid fits all pots and the pan, its PanHandler allows you to shuffle pots around without sacrificing your fingers, and a Packtowl separates the pots so they don't get scratched.

Bottom Line: MSR's BlackLite Gourmet Cookset—cookware for discerning base-camp chefs.

Wonderful Cookset

This cook set is the best out there when it comes to full size cookware. The non-stick is great for cooking and cleaning and the frypan is a God send for quesidillas, eggs, bacon, etc. I use this all the time. It is even light enough that you don't really notice the big pack size. I do regularly leave one pot at home to shave a few more ounces if i don't need it, but the pots also pack your stove and tools too.

Classic

Great price point & popular for good reason. It's not light, but it's durable & the non-stick finish is a must for the gourmet backcountry cookers out there. Heat is distributed fairly well & the textured bottom actually does decrease stove-slip. These are my favorite pot grips out there & I like the included sections of Packtowl- perfect size for quick cleanup. Overkill for the soloist, but the size is great for groups & shared cooking. After years with this set, I'm thinking about upgrading to something smaller/lighter for my solo trips- but the BlackLite frypan, grips & Packtowl will never be replaced!

Took this set car-camping and cooked up a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, and hasbrowns with no problems of the food sticking to the pans. Also able to clean and pack back up very fast.

Durable, convenient, value

By:

I've had this cookset for over 10 years; have cooked up many amazing meals in conditions when one might consider just dropping a bag of stuff in boiling water or rehydrating something unrecognizable. They are a pleasure to use, easy to clean, pack up well (especially with MSR's Alpine Kitchen set - another must have) and are durable. Especially helpful - the removable clamp-on aluminum pot handle - I've even loaned the handle to other friends with lesser-designed cooksets when they couldn't figure out how to get their hot pot & handle off the flame. Newer-fangled materials have since come along (titanium, etc.) which may perform even better, but I think it's great that this MSR design paved the way for innovative, compact camping cookware offered at a great price.

Slick cookset does what it claims

Great cookset for those that want to get everything in one kit without breaking the bank. Non-stick surface cleans up well and holds up to plastic utensils. This set is a little on the heavy side for backpacking but could serve the purpose by simply leaving one of the pots at home.

Love the nonstick!!

These pots are great. Light weight, useful sizes. The nonstick is great for cooking and makes cleaning a breeze. Of course, a highly motivated Airline employee will be able to bend these pots no matter how carefully they are packed.
