The Mountain Hardwear Women's Flip Jacket zips into compatible Mountain Hardwear shells, and its reversibility gives you twice the options when you wear it as an outer layer. The Flip's PrimaLoft insulation gives your shell an additional dose of warmth for extremely cold days on the mountain, and this jacket’s stretchy side and underarm panels provide unrestricted movement. Unique embroidery and a micro chamois-lined collar make this a cute, cozy piece you'll love to sport at the ski resort or just making the rounds in town.
Bottom Line: Inside-out, outside-in, or under your shell.
I've ordered the last "river blue" one in XS (no S left), so I was in doubt about the fit until it arrived - I am Taiwanese and 5'2'' small. This jacket is really tight but perfect for my figure (94 lbs) - i can even put a thin fleece jacket underneath, and i haven't been cold with this so far (hasn't been really cold yet though). Both sides, the titanium grey and the river blue have a great design, i love both - the dark grey one is more unobtrusive but elegant, the blue one is more fanciful. As to water-proofness, i think, "water-resistant" hits home. The only downside that i can find is that there is no available hard shell for this jacket. i asked back country, and there is none :-( by the way, thank you very much for backcountry's great customer service which in my case means a lot of chat sessions and patience...
I love this jacket! It's comfortable, technical features, stylish and warm. I'm 5'4", 115, size 4, usually a small but went with the medium after trying both sizes because it's a fitted jacket through the chest and has plenty of cinching to "custom fit".
Love the jacket, very stylish but with all the techie Mountain Hardwear features. Cinch at neck and bottom are great. I'm 5'3", 120 and went with the medium. The small fit but no room for layering and the arms at holes were a bit tight. One thing this coat has is unproportioned sleeve length. After trying both sizes, I'm determined it's the design of the coat or an issue with pattern making. Keep in mind coat is fitted through the chest. I would definitely size up from other Mountain Hardwear coats. I wear a small in the subzero parka and that is plenty roomy.
Sunflowerpower. Love the name. There is a tower named "Sun Flower Tower" in the Bridger Jacks in Canyonlands... FYI.
Would this be warm enough for W. New York winters? Yes, in conjunction with other layers. If you want a one jacket solution... I would consider a down jacket with a hood. Check out the Sub Zero SL Hooded Jacket from Mountain Hardwear to see what I am talking about. Hope this helps!
I got this jacket with excellent customer service last month. This is my Fave! It is reversable and really cool. I like the texture with the embroidery details. Mine has it on the back and the arm. People stop me and ask me where I got it because it is so unusual. Mountain hardware is so good at style and comfort anyway. I live outside Seattle near the ski areas. I am 39 and feel up to date. Any age could wear this. It is roomy for layering. It's not the tighter contouring that North Face has been doing to keep that in mind. I prefer a little room but I'm older. Thanks Backcountry for your great customer service. I tell people to get this jacket from you!
I'm 5'7" and 125 lbs and the medium was the right size for me. I have the MH Synchro in a small so originally I ordered the small which fit well except the armholes were too tight. The medium allows me to do light layering. Sleeves are a little long - an inch or 2 shorter would have been perfect. Great for tall women!
Very stylish and cute jacket with the stitching design. Thought I wouldn't like the reverse side of the jacket because it's fairly plain but it was cute also because the jacket is nicely shaped.
I get cold easily but was toasty in it on a blustery San Francisco outing.
I have long arms and torso and these jacket fit great. Real unusual embroidery and warm but lightweight. I am 5'10 and weigh 145lbs and the large fits over sweaters.
This jacket is very warm but not too bulky. I get lots of compliments on it, but i was a little unsure of it out of the box. The pattern embroidered all over the Espresso is a mix between gangsta and skater. Not my style either way, so i just wear it on the reverse side and it looks great!
