Mountain Hardwear Microchill Fleece Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Men's - 2008
The Mountain Hardwear Men's Micro Chill Zip T sports good looks and has a lightweight texture that feels like a cloud. In your pack, you'll barely notice this fleece shirt's seven-ounce weight. Under backpack straps, you'll barely notice it touching your skin thanks to flat-seam construction. The Micro Chill wicks moisture to your outer shell and lets air circulate, without compromising this fleece's thermal value. A long chest zip gives you extra venting capability, and a casual look makes this pullover just as suitable for the tavern as it is for the trail.
Bottom Line: The Mountain Hardwear Micro Chill Zip T has your back.
I wore this as an outer layer over two smaller base layers. I only wore it as a temporary piece when it got a little chillier early/late in the day. All in all I have nothing to really complain about with the shirt, however I'd be careful about wearing it as a stand-alone unless in moderate temperatures. Wasn't as warm as I was hoping, but it got the job done. I'm 5'6" 140 and ordered the Medium and it fit perfect over a layer or two, not too loose to look baggy, but not too tight to restrict movement.
I was looking for a lighter weight all-around fleece and this one definitely fits the bill. The shirt blocks the wind much better than my other fleece shirts which is great. It's very comfortable because there are no seams on your shoulders. I'm about 6 ft 1, 165 and ordered a large. The fit is perfect for my somewhat tall and thin build and longer arms. The logo looks great on the front as well. Very happy with my purchase and the site in general!
A little thin for my taste, good weight just a "looser" weave. Almost a stretchy feel compared to other fleeces I own. Great with a layer or two. 60 bucks is a little steep.
I got this jacket just because i needed a light weight fleece and absolutely love it. It fits close, but isn't tight. Fits well underneath a shell. Its a great jacket for those cool mornings.
I use my husband's medium size, which is a bit big, but keeps you warm. I wear a size 8.This is not recommended for the pool. The fleece does not work in that environment.
I ordered a medium. I am 5'9" and 157 lbs. Good fit but not to tight. Very good freedom of movement in the arms and shoulders. Good alone in cool weather and under a shell in cold weather. Room enough to wear a wicking tee underneath. I own two.
I didn't know whether this fleece would be thinner than I was looking for, but when I got it it turned out to be the appropriate weight. In terms of warmth for wearing it around, this can replace a sweatshirt and even go a little colder (with only a t-shirt underneath, so layering would help its warmth even more). Highly recommended.
I am looking for a mens jacket which is very warm, waist length, can be worn in car or indoors without being too hot ( must be able to breathe),not too bulky, and have a zip front. Also wind resistant.
Check out Outdoor Research Credo Jacket. It's really comfortable in the city or in the mountains. Windproof on the outside with a light fleece on the inside. -----------------------------------Also, check out any number of air permeable softshells on the market. Two from Mountain Hardwear would be the Android Jacket and the Offwidth Jacket. Hope this helps.
This fleece is much warmer than its weight or thickness would suggest. I wear it over a base layer skiing and am fine for anything 20 degrees to freezing with just a hard shell on. The fit is good, too. (I'm 6'1" 165 lbs and ordered a medium. Large would be too bulky.) And no piling!
I just wish it had some kind of pocket, to put things in that need to stay warm (energy bars, lip goop), and was tighter around the wrists. I think they should make the cuffs out of PolarTech Power Stretch fleece, to help keep the sleeves down over your arms.
I purchased this fleece for an upcoming summit trip to Mt. Rainier. The jacket is very warm. I also own The North Face Men's TKA 100 Glacier Zip Fleece Sweater which is perfect for a little more warmth. The MH is thicker and provides more warmth, so if you want something that provides more warmth than TNF, look no further.
I wore this over my baselayer and then a shell on top and I was toasty while snowboarding in the mid 20"s. I have a ton of Mountain Hardwear gear and have never had a problem with any of it. Overall a good thin layer that wicks well. I will probably buy the same in another color.
My son is an outdoor teenager who is into "looking good for the ladies" as he says. Trying to find a happy combo is hard. He loves the weight of the fleece and the style. A win-win. We are happy.
Just want to say thank you to Backcountry for not only their extremely delightful sales staff but for also having the merchandise I wanted in stock, competitive pricing as well as prompt shipping. No hassle, no confusion and well trained staff who really listened and got it right the first time. As I mentioned this was my first experience with Backcountry and I was incredibly pleased at how efficient the entire experience was. I look forward to shopping in the future with this well run organization!
At first I thought it was a fine fleece and I still think it's OK I guess. Things that annoy me: not as warm as I thought and it's a pain to take on and off. It seems to statically stick to everything I wear under it. Since I bike to work, this is what I wear when I go out of the office for lunch and it's a pain to take on/off with a long-sleeved dress shirt. It's even a bit hard with my thin wool base-layer. I can hear the stitching stretching and tearing now and then when I struggle to get it off. It needs to be either a full zip or different material on the inside sleeves to make it easier to get on and off. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5 if there were half star ratings, but I give it a 2 since there's not and too many people have given it 5 stars. Need a reality check here for the price. :-)
