During cold spring and fall backpacking trips, the Mountain Hardwear Clouds Rest Down Sleeping Bag keeps you warm to 5F. This 3.5lb mummy bag's 600-fill down insulation is highly compressible, and the tight 5in baffle spacing helps maximize and maintain the loft. Mountain Hardwear designed the Clouds Rest with a two-piece draft collar that drapes naturally over your neck and shoulders, comfortably sealing in warmth. Tighten the hood and collar drawcords to ensure that no heat escapes when an early winter wind cuts through the walls of your tent. This down bag's Comfort Footbox gives your feet room to wiggle without creating cold spots.
Bottom Line: Prepare yourself for freezing cold mountain nights with Mountain Hardwear's Clouds Rest Sleeping Bag.
Yeah this bag is pretty sick, used it in the desert during a few ice cold nights and it was super warm . Im 6,4 got the 6,6 bag have plenty of room . Id recomend it; pretty light, compactable and plenty warm. Cant wait to try it during my next -20 montana hunting trip!
is this bag good enough for Aconcangua---------------------------------This is a 5 degree bag. Not sure of the nightly temps on Aconcagua whenever it is that you are going but it gets pretty cold at high altitude. What is the highest elevation that you will bivy? Highest I have read is around 19,400'. Summit is 22,841'. 5 degrees could work if you have a warm tent and wear all your clothes. I would consider a -20 bag. Check out the Wraith from Mountain Hardwear. Hope this helps.
This IS NOT a woman's bag. You might have been shipped a womans bag, in which case you should contact the gearheads at backcountry to get that fixed. The clouds rest 5 degree bag is a mens bag. Mountain Hardware also makes a Clouds Rest 5 degree Woman's bag. This is, I repeat, a mens sleeping bag.
I personally use this bag and I love it. Warm as hell and great sleeps
Good all around bag. Great foot space, nice collar and hood that keeps in heat well, yet is still comfortable. Keeps loft very well. I use it for backpacking. Would recommend buying a compression sac for it - the stuff sac that comes with it does not compress it nearly as much as possible - with a good compression sac you can get it to half the size of the stuff sac for easier packing and it regains its loft just fine.
this is a women's bag! it says "women's" ON the bag, but nowhere on the product page. if you are a dude looking for a sweet down bag, do not order this. if you are a chick and need a sweet down bag for a good price, order it. i give it two stars because i never used it and can't give you a performance rating.
My mother and I both ordered this bag within days of each other from this same exact page. I got a standard 6' bag, my mom got a 5'6" women's bag (not what she wanted and since we're both taller than 5'6" we couldn't just switch). Very odd. She, obviously, sent hers back. I gave mine a shot. I lasted one night. It's cut quite narrow- a lot narrower than I expected. I thrashed all night getting stuck in it every time I pulled my knees up. It was a cold night (lots of frost on the tent in the morning) and the bag was quite warm. So, if you don't mind a narrow cut, it's a perfectly good bag, but if you get at all claustrophobic in mummy bags you won't like it.
