Mountain Hardwear Epic Glove - Women's - 2007

The Mountain Hardwear Women's Epic Glove durable synthetic palm offers excellent grip, and its lining manages moisture. A favorite of versatile athletes who spend their winters skiing, climbing, and camping, these water-resistant, windproof gloves shield your hands from the elements. The seamless fingers and articulated cut give your fingers dexterity as you build a snowcave and unpack your gear. After hours of laying snow-brick in these lightweight gloves, you'll appreciate the brushed polyester lining's warmth and moisture-wicking properties. A short gauntlet blocks out freshies as you make turns in untracked pow the next morning.

Bottom Line: The Mountain Hardwear Epic Glove keeps your hands fully functional during backcountry winters.

Only one problem . . .

I wear them so much that I need a new pair every year. These gloves are miraculously warm and dry. When the weather looks sketchy and I'm planning a big trip, these gloves are the first thing I grab. As a guide, I handle wet ropes often and find that this is the only glove I can wear that does not turn into a sponge. I need the dexterity that they offer without the hassle of having to change them when they get wet. Excellent ski touring, alpine climbing, or camping glove. Durable, dry, light, and warm.

Perfect spring skiing gloves

By:
March 20, 2008

These gloves are great for spring skiing. They do run large, so go with the smaller one if you are torn between two sizes.

These will work but depending on how cold your hands get and how cold it is outside... you might want to consider a glove with a little bit more weather protection and insulation. Check out the W's Onza Glove from Hardwear for a glove that might suit the situation a little better. Again, if it is not to cold... the Epic Gloves should work great. Many folks spring ski in this glove and love it. Hope this helps!

Leaky

By:
March 13, 2009

They leak like sieves. Very disappointing as they are light, fit well and are not much insulated so great for cool days. I wore them hiking and they were soaked in a light rain within 5 minutes. They have not earned their keep in my backpack sp will keep them for dry day hikes.

Thanks for your review. These gloves were never meant to be waterproof simply water resistant. Sorry your expectations were not met...

Freedom to move

By:
March 4, 2008

Bought these gloves for spring skiing. Used them the first time this weekend and loved them. I love that I can move my fingers and that I can easily get my hands in the wrist straps of my ski poles! These gloves will keep the wind out, but since I did not fall, I cannot attest to the water resistant factor.
