Mountain Hardwear Torsion Glove - 2007

Mountain Hardwear made the Torsion Glove for athletes who cross over from ice climbing to backcountry skiing but don't want boxes of gloves in their gear closets. This waterproof glove offers grip, flexibility, and durability. The Torsion's super durable Armor-Tan leather fingers and palm withstand multiple seasons of climbing. A brushed fleece interior warms your paws on frigid backcountry tours. Windproof, waterproof, and breathable Conduit softshell makes up the back of the Torsion, giving the glove stretch and a close, articulated fit for enhanced dexterity.

Bottom Line: The Mountain Hardwear Torsion—less glove, more results.

Are these truly waterproof, both inside and out? Does anyone make a glove with a waterproof outer as well as inner lining?

The Torsion Glove is not a waterproof glove in that the seams are NOT taped. However, the fabric that is used is the same on the Synchro Jacket that is waterproof. So, a glove made with waterproof fabric that is not taped and sealed is essentially an extremely weather resistant glove. I use these gloves for ice climbing, nordic skiing, and cycling on cold days.

Everyone should own these

I absolutely LOVE these gloves. I had a pair 3 years ago and lost one in thick brush while doing a bit of pre-season climbing recon. Sadly I went another year before replacing them. They breathe incredibly well and keep me warm and dry during cc ski tours and block the wind like a champ when i'm biking to work. I can wear them in the dead of winter and be fine - the PERFECT glove for everything!

How thin are these? I mean I'm looking for as thin as possible

How thin are these? I mean I'm looking for as thin as possible waterproof or at least water resistant gloves. I would use them on my bike rides to work here in MN. They don't need to be the warmest things around but pretty thin so I could open zippers and dig into my pockets them on.Any thoughts if these would be the ones or would you recommend something else?

these would be a horrible choice , check out the outdoor research gloves the PL150 and the PL400 perfect for what you need.---------------------I completely disagree! Why would these be a horrible choice? These gloves are made with the same fabric that the Synchro Jacket is made from. A thin, waterproof, and breathable conduit softshell material. They are thin and the palm is covered with Pittards goat skin leather (durable and long lasting) Futhermore, I personally use these gloves road biking in cold weather, mountain biking, skate skiing, and ice climbing. These would be the perfect weather resistant gloves for commuting on your bike. The PL 400 is a 400/300 weight fleece glove. The PL 150 is a powerstrech glove. Both good gloves undoubtedly but not softshell, not as thin as the Torsion Glove, and neither has a leather palm.Hope this info helps!

Great from Blood & Guts to Beer & Bar

These gloves are always in my pack from fall to spring. They are a great hunting gloves on those 20-40* milder days in Vt. Trigger feel is superb on bow or gun, they also kept my hands pretty warm and somewhat dry while field dressing. Toss them in the wash and they are ready to go for any high output adventure. Finish the day wearing these gloves at any outside ski bar, you'll look sharp, have warm hands and you might even have a little bit of that musky scent left over from the buck to attract the ladies!

Pittards leather and overall quality/breathability of the glove are superb! Get some!

I'm a Wisconsin resident who has to deal with changing temps

I'm a Wisconsin resident who has to deal with changing temps from below freezing to mid- and upper-30s in the winter months. How would these hold up?

It totally depends on what your activity is. These are softshells for your hands and while they're awesome at what they do, they have their limitations. Just like how there are times when a puffy down jacket is more appropriate than a softshell. If you're sitting at Lambeau Field drinking a cold beer and eating a block of cheddar, you might want to upgrade. But, if you're doing anything where the blood is flowing, these will be what you want.
