Mountain Hardwear designed the Viperine 3 three-person, three-season tent to be easy to set up and spacious inside. This tent features Mountain Hardwear's new Crosshub pole structure—one pole holds the whole tent up. Aside from being easy to pitch, this structure results in nearly vertical walls, which means more of the tent's interior space is useable. With its fly, the Viperine 3 is watertight, so you can ride out the storm in comfort. Reflective guy out loops steady your tent in high winds, and a plastic window on the rain fly lets in light. In warm weather, take off the fly and let air circulate through the mesh door and window.
Bottom Line: The Mountain Hardwear Viperine 3 is your lightweight, spacious, durable home away from home when you head into the backcountry.
I have two of these tents and I love them. I have backpacked quite a bit here in Japan and in California with my wife and two children and these tents are the best I have ever owned. Lightweight and STRONG. I have pitched them on a ridge with 35 knot winds and they stood strong. The small footprints make them easy to use in dense vegetation. What else can I say... GOOD TENT.
Amazing tent. It packs small, is completely wind and water proof, has great features (lots of pockets, nice vestibule), and is light. Only 'complaint' is that after a few nights in it, my gf and I couldn't have imagined how another person could have snuck in. When the rain hit we even had some foot room to stow our bags off the ground. (will get a footprint) Worth the price tag.
Write your question here...ok guys. lookin 4 a 3man 3season -8lbs. good vertibules 44+sq ft 45+ headroom. no full mesh tents. over worked underpaid paramedic so money matters. discontinued models ok as long as parts etc are available. lookn at viperine3, parkview3, meteor light3. suggestions, comments?
Suggestions: Kelty Grand Mesa 4 tent, Kelty Gunnison 3.1, and the Marmot Limelight 3. I have never used the Kelty tents before but the reviews on BC seem positive and the price is certainly right. I have used Marmot gear before and love it. They really know how to make some good stuff. The Meteor light I would knix, heavy at 7lb 1 oz and not enough space for 3 comfortably for the weight. 55" x 93". Couldn't find the viperine but the Big Agnes if you don't like the Kelty looks to be a good choice although it is a bit heavy. But if you are looking to spend around 250$ then you are gonna have to deal with a heavier tent. But hey who cares that's why you got 3 people to divy the weight. Hope this helped. Good luck in the search for a new tent, and remember, BC has an awesome return policy. I hear you on the underpaid overworked paramedic , nurses make the big bucks.
got this tent to pack with our Boy Scout troop, thisis the best tent I've had, small lite weight and works well. We have sleeped in 0degree weather and in the rain.I will have to get one more for my sons to have. GREAT TENT
Haven't had the chance to take this out yet, but I did a practice assembly in the basement. Took a while to figure it out the first time around, but it's pretty easy to assemble once you get the gist of it. So far I am happy with the size, materials and construction.
