Pack your Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 2 two-person, three-season tent on your next backpacking adventure. The Lightpath 2's watertight fly keeps the rain out and will be your barrier against foul, wet weather. Guy lines let you stabilize your tent in the wind. The fly provides you with 10 square feet of vestibule room so you can drag your packs underneath and have a dry spot where you can take off your muddy boots if the weather gets really unpleasant. A plastic window on the fly lets you see out. On warm days, take off the rain fly and get plenty of air circulation through the mesh door and window.
Bottom Line: Sleep comfortably in the backcountry in your Mountain Hardwear Lightpath 2 two-person tent.
Mountain Hardwear is a great brand and is top quality. This Tent is quality but a bit too small for two people. If your planning on sleeping 2 people in this good luck. Great as a one man tent though.
When combined with the footprint, yes this can be used as a shelter. This is an 08 model;http://www.mountainhardwear.com/Product.aspx?top=1428&cat=1448&prod=2545
This is a good comfortable and reasonably priced tent. I just used it for an entire week on the Colorado Plateau and was very comfortable. My only issue is the inability to freestand.
This tent was amazing. My husband and I went backpacking for the very first time and bought this tent because it is super light weight. Our first night, a huge thunderstorm came, and I just laid awake praying that we'd stay dry and warm! And we did!! Not one drip. I am so impressed with this tent and how well it stood up against the elements. Roomy enough for two -- for us, maybe not so roomy for friends or relatives. Also, an amazing price for the quality we got. The only downside we saw was that we needed to buy extra stakes for the rain guard. Fabulous!
I'm worried about the condensation in this tent. I am a fairly warm sleeper and often have my heat pumping dog with me so I was wondering if I will wake up soaking wet?
I don't think you'll wake up wet. The top of the tent itself is a screen, and the rain guard sits up off it a couple inches, so there is plenty of ventilation.
We bought this tent this summer ('08) as the "Lightpath 3 Tent 3-Person 3-Season" was just a little bit too heavy for some of the backpacking trips we go on. We've used it 2 or 3 times back country and have been very pleased with it. Easy set up & take down with a spacious vestibule that holds two backpacks, stove, shoes, poles and other goods quite easily. This tent has been through some pretty windy days here in Southern Montana and it's brother the lightpath 3, essentially the same tent only bigger, went through a pretty bad storm with torrential rain without incident.
The tent is guaranteed dry, but if you are particularly worried about wetness you may want to invest in a footprint as well, which will further increase the protection.
I wrote a review about sleeping through a whole night of severe thunderstorms and didn't feel one drop of rain in this tent... you have nothing to worry about!
First night I got the tent I went into the Backcountry of the Colorado Rockies. As usual an afternoon thunderstorm rolled in and I set up camp right away. The tent got put right to the test with wind and rain and it passed with flying colors. Can get stuffy with the rain fly on though in the heat. Great tent!
