For primates who explore the backcountry in the winter, the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Jacket offers plush warmth and a level of breathability that's difficult to beat. High loft Monkey Phur fleece gives this jacket a rich texture, while its noticeably open structure lets air in and out at a much better rate than your typical fleece. You'll get up that mountain much quicker if you don't have to stop and strip layers. At a slight 13oz, the Monkey Woman gives you tons of warmth at a fractional weight. Power stretch cuffs, wrist panel, and waist make your range of motion more complete. When the clouds look heavy, add a waterproof shell for a warm, breathable layering setup.
Bottom Line: Grab a banana, some poles, and your Mountain Hardwear Monkey Jacket, and skin up that mountain.
I love the style (although it does run a bit small). I get compliments on this jacket frequently. The warmth of this jacket makes it perfect for those crisp fall and early winter days. I also plan to use it under my snowboarding jacket for extra warm insulation on those bitter cold days.
I love this fleece. I'm amazed at how warm it is and yet so light. I wore it skiing last week in Colorado. I had a pretty large tumble and got snow all up my back. The jacket was first dry article I had. This fleece was a bit of a splurge for me and after the fact I had major buyers remorse, but then it arrived and knew it was completely worth it.
This fleece is great i bought it in august as a birthday present and luckily and surprisingly we had a chillier Cincinnati fall and i got to wear it a lot. Within the first month four other people had gone out and bought one now like the entire school has them. Its a great fit and the fleece is so thick when its brand new i felt as if it were a windbreaker too. Its definitely one of my favorite fleeces in my collection, has a lot of fuctionability, good movement. I only wish i could've gotten it in Lead but the green color is sweet too if they have lead ever i will buy a second one they're that good and worth every buck
I really like this jacket because it's so CUSH. The feeling of the fleece is unlike any other kind of fleece out there, and it's super cute. I usually wear a large but found this particular jacket to run really small so I had to sign up. It has a nice cut to it, not boxy like North Face fleeces.
Bursting with functional class and unique appeal, this fleece jacket is a must for any girl who understands that "classy outdoors chic" is NOT an oxymoron. Highly recommended. (NOTE: Runs smaller than many other companies. I'm an XS, and this is the first item that actually hasn't been a bit too loose on me.)
I am not a huge Mountain Hardwear fan, but I took a chance and have to say that this jacket absolutely rocks! First, it is very warm--warmer than my Denali (neither are WindStopper). Second, the fit is amazing. Unlike my Denali, the Monkey Man is trim so I don't have cold air sneaking in or a lot of bulk from a cinched waist. This does run small. I got a Men's Small because I have long arms that Womens Medium does not accommodate and it fits like a dream. Oh, and the fleece is not like the shiny fur that The North Face used on its Thermal Denali, either. Mine Monkey Man is black and it is a flat black. Just a great looking very warm jacket.
Unlike many other people said in review, I think the material of this fleece looks and touches like the door mat we get from 99 cents store. The "deep sea" color isn't so pretty itself but somehow looks fine when put it on. Its warmth and weight are ok. Just about the same as other non-wind-block fleece within this price range (100-200). The only thing I like about this jacket is the cut. It got slimmer fitting and shorter length than other brands and is great for a tiny woman like me (5'1,96lb,purchased size XS).overall, this jacket doesn't surprise me by any means. It is far from being perfect, but I can't find anything else better anyway.
Want fuzzy and warm? Well, if you have the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Women's Jacket, then you've got it. Through wind and chill, I have stayed warm in chilly weather. I recommend this jacket to all cold-bodied people. My fiance bought one, too!
Great Service, The first jacket I ordered was too small. So i shipped it back and they sent me a medium. The customer service people were very friendly and helpful. Also, fast shipping. I have the jacket!
This jacket is TINY, it is short and small, i ordered and xs and i am 5'3" and 110 and it was way to small. But the jacket is very nice, it is soft and has nice features.
Not only is this jacket extremely light. It keeps you warm and looks fabulous! When purchasing winter jackets, I usually stick to columbia, north face, or patagonia, but I was extremely pleased when I received my order. However, as another review mentioned the sizes seem to be smaller than most brands. I'm 5'3" and petite so I usually wear an xs, but the xs in this jacket was quite snug. I ended up exchanging it for the same jacket in a small, and it's perfect! I love it!
I purchased my jacket 3 years ago. It is a VERY flatering fit. I have worn it skiing on light snow days in the spring and stayed worm. I have worn it layered under a coat in severe temps and stayed toasty. I grab this jacket every day in the winter to early spring. I am a mom of six and it washes great - the fleece is thick and the best I have seen. Warning - if you wear it out of the house and in to the car, you better be able to take it off -you get warm fast. I trained for 3 marathons in the dead of winter and wore this jacket with tights. It is my FAVORITE jacket and when I say it has a flattering fit, I mean that it is slenderizing thru the tummy, I guess secondary to the way it zips and the bottom band. I also love the sleeve band, perfect fit into gloves. My most worn item of all my casual/active wear.
I was looking for a jacket that was warmer than a regular fleece, but cozy; not bulky; something I could wear a regular T-neck & even a sweater under & not feel like I was in a snow suit. The monkey fur does not pill or ball when it is washed and doesn't pick up lint, dog/cat hair etc. which is a real treat. I also have a Mtn Hardwear down jacket as well as other items by the same company. I got a great deal all around. Your company was quick to respond and I received the jacket in 2 days, regular shipping! I'll be back!
I am very glad I read the previous reviews and sized up from the other fleeces I have bought. This is a form fitting jacket but the large is totally working for my, usually, medium sized self. I mean, honestly, it is sort of like wearing your most favorite, softest fleece blanket around. Just be warned, people (even complete strangers) will want to pet and/or cuddle with you when you are wearing this jacket. So be prepared.
Once again, mountain hardware leads the competition with this jacket. I live in the coldest harshest enviroment (Alaska), and this jacket has kept me comfy cozy all winter! Its heavier than the poodle jacket (which I also have), and does great by its self or under a shell. The fit is flattering, and more true to a womans sizing than any other product out there. Mountain Hardware has a reputation in Alaska for being the best quality product out there, and it keeps producing. KUDOS!
Great jakcet. You can throw it on over EVERYTHING!! However, I would advise ordering at least one size bigger than you think you'll need because they run pretty small.
I went on an all-out-no-holds-barred black fleece jacket hunt last month. We're talking lots of procrastination (uh, research?) at work looking for the penultimate in fleece jackets. I definitely found it in the monkey woman. Its SO warm, SO flattering, and SO, uhh fleecy (?) that I don't have to worry about being cold or uncomfortable. This is the jacket.
