Mountain Hardwear Synchro Pant - Women's

Climb rock and ice in your Mountain Hardwear Womens' Synchro Pant, made from stretchy, durable fabric that is waterproof and breathable. Scrape a pant leg along a sharp edge, and Mountain Hardwear's abrasion-resistant nylon twill can take it. This fabric also stretches with you when you do the splits as you maneuver up a rock face. Taped seams and water-resistant zippers help keep moisture from sneaking in.

Bottom Line: Be in sync with rock, ice, dirt, and snow in the rugged Mountain Hardwear Synchro Pant.

Great pants

By:
March 12, 2008

I agree that these pants are definitely made for thin to athletic-shaped bodies, but I've found that with most of Mountain Hardwear's clothing. They do keep you dry, even sitting in the snow at length. I wore these on a snowshoeing trek recently in deep snow and they were great. Breathed well and I stayed toasty without getting too warm. Great movement, too, as I did a lot more "climbing" than trekking. I agree could be a little longer, I prefer lengths to the bottom of my shoe/boot, but they're not flood-length either for my height of 5'4" with the XS size.

Great pants

March 12, 2008

Mountain Hardwear pants fit great if you're on the thinner/more athletic side. I'm 5'4" and the length is ok in the XS, but I'd prefer a bit longer, just a preference. Performed great, kept me dry while sitting in the snow and snowshoeing through waist-deep snow. Was plenty warm without being too warm in 20-something degree weather and silk-weight long underwear on. Nice ease of movement, too. Overall really perform well and as advertised.

IDoes the Synchro come in different lengths?? The pair I just received from you seems shorter than a pair I had previously tried on in a store. .....I'd sure like to be able to exchange these for a longer version if possible. Thanks

Overall great

By:
November 9, 2008

I have used these pants for just about everything, from mountaineering, to AT skiing, to resort skiing. I love them, and just ordered my second pair. The one beef I have with them is that while seeing on a particularly "wet" day at Crystal Mountain in Washington, they were DEFINITELY NOT waterproof. I was soaked to the bone. Maybe I have to use a waterproofing on them again, but it seemed like the water got in through the seams. But I love how they fit and how I move in them, so I will forgive one bad and unusual day...

Don't glissade in these!

By:
October 17, 2008

I owned the MH Synchro jacket and was pretty happy with it so I decided to try out the pants. They fit reasonably well and I was happy with them the first few times I wore them. Then I glissaded down about 1000 feet of soft (not hard or icy) snow and the material on the butt rubbed off completely. The pants were black and after that the butt was white! I had to return them.

Great for ice climbing and skiing

By:
April 21, 2009

I have nothing but praise for these pants. They are light-weight, comfortable, warm, and stylish. I've worn them ice climbing and skiing and they've been great for both. For climbing, I was able to hike miles to the ice without getting too warm, but not get chilled when I had down time. I'm 5'4" and bought a size small which fits perfectly. My boyfriend was so envious of these pants that he recently bought the men's version.

good backcountry pants

By:
February 2, 2009

Super lightweight, breathable, yet sturdy material. Excellent venting with the zippers on the sides. Worn with a pair of long underwear, and you're good to go touring. However, not warm enough to sit on a chairlift at the resort in mid-winter. (Fine in the spring, though.)

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Pant - Women's

The Mountain Hardwear Synchro Pant is great for snowshoeing and crosscountry skiing. The fit is great, but a little higher waisted than I like. The breathe very well, and the huge side zips are great for when you are working really hard. I wear S and am 5'1" and 115.

Good looking only

By:
March 5, 2009

I love the ways these pants look, but they do not keep you warm AT ALL. I wear them with thick thermal long johns underneath, and I freeze at around 20 degrees F.

Also, while the zippers really are sealed and waterproof, the waterproofing on the garment is a finish and it has to be resprayed after a few washes. The pants wash well, but what's the point if the waterproofing washes out along with the dirt?

Definitely not worth the price.

syncro pant

By:
January 14, 2008

The pants fit great (finally a decent pant to fit an athletic body and it moves with me). They are fabulously waterproof and breathable- the price is reasonable, too. The only beef I have is I don't like the cuffs or the little bungee to tighten them around my ski-boots. The first day I wore them, the plastic stopper came off on one of the pant legs. An internal gaiter would be better. I was impressed, though, with the bomb-proof material at the cuff which was not sliced up by my teleskis with repeated turns on the lift served days. I have not tried them touring, yet, because we have been having so much powder in the ski areas (bummer-ha).

GREAT MOUNTAINEERING PANT!!!

By:
January 29, 2008

I wore these for my Orizaba climb and I love them. They move with you, are not too high in the waist and have front zip so you can use your Freshette or Lady J with out having to pull your pants down to pee!!! Very warm. I wear a 4 in women's clothes and the small in these were big enough to wear heavy weight thermals underneath and still small enough to wear alone! Great pant and worth the money!!!!

Synchro Pant - Women's

By:
July 13, 2007

I very much liked this pant and I was so excited to try them out. However, my middle of the road size didn't allow for it. I ordered a small, but it was too big. Then I ordered an extra small and it was a little too tight. I tearfully had to return both. I really wanted them too!!

Synchro pant

By:

I think I tried on every soft shell pant this season. These were by far the best fit. Mountain hardware has the greatest designer in the world. They actually fit athletic bodies, not like pants that are made for big long butts.

Happy camper!

By:
February 11, 2009

These are great touring pants. I don't go to resorts, I am mostly a backcountry boarder. I have never needed to put an extra layer underneath them and have never had a problem with water getting through EVER! I highly recommend these if you're looking for something more flexible than hard shell gear. They are slightly long for me... I am 5'6, 145 lbs. The small just wont even come close to fitting around my hips. I don't recommend the white, as mine are pretty dirty and I just washed them. Great pants... couldn't be happier.

Good Ice Climbing Pant

By: Backcountry.com Employee
February 26, 2007

I bought these to wear ice climbing because I didn't like the fit of my other pants. These fit better, except in the waist. I have big legs, so the size that fit my legs did not fit my waist. This pant would be perfect if it had some sort of cinch mechanism to make the waist fit better. My bf had the same problem with his pants. Otherwise, these pants were great. I was able to move with ease because of the elasticity of the fabric. They have zipper vents which come in handy when hiking. They really do keep the moisture out. They also have reinforced material on the inside ankle which are nice if you accidentally catch it with your crampons. I've been very impressed with this pant and really like it except for the waist being too big. The pants do have belt loops, so a belt will help with that problem.

MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FOR THE PRICE

By:
December 27, 2007

I KEPT THESE BECAUSE I WANTED THE FULL OUTFIT AND LOVED THE JACKET. THE WAIST IS LARGE (AT LEAST THERE ARE BELT LOOPS) AND I AM TRADITIONALLY A CUT AND DRIED MEDIUM. I WEAR THESE OVER GYM CLOTHES OR JUST A BASE LAYER FOR GOING OUT. I WAS ALSO A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN THE WARMTH. I HAVE THE SOFTSHELL S.T.P. NORTH FACE PANT WHICH I FEEL IS MORE A TRUE MEDIUM, MORE FLATTERING, NO BELT LOOPS AND WARMER. GO WITH THE NORTH FACE FOR A BETTER VALUE AND FIT.
