Mountain Hardwear EV 2 Tent 2-Person 4-Season - 2007

The EV 2 tent is Mountain Hardwear's strongest, lightest high altitude mountaineering shelter. At 105 inches long, it's also one of the longest single wall tents you'll find. The single wall design is reinforced by a system of non-stretch VX-02 3-ply fabric trusses that resist pole deformation caused by weather and movement by holding the tent's poles in a stable arch. While most tents are made of fabric that stretches, increasing the stress on poles, the EV 2's fabric and design reinforces the poles' strength. The EV 2's trim floor design allows for easy placement on narrow ledges and snow platforms. Other pluses include an integrated vestibule with a floor, and large stake out loops that accept skis and pickets. Welded, waterproof ceiling vents zip open and closed from the inside, and can be propped open. A floor zip lets you sweep spindrift back to the proper side of the walls, and Mountain Hardwear's Atlas pole system makes the EV 2 strong and light.

Bottom Line: Rest well and mock the wind.

School yourself first, it's awesome, but is it what you really need?

Kowidd752682 - I read your question and even though I know it's been a while since you've posted it if figure it would do good to others to post this review. when purchasing a tent such as the ev 2, keep in mind that this is a tent specifically designed for high altitude mountaineering. if you want a true four season tent you should probably look into some of the other models. this is a single wall tent. this means that there's no mesh to ventilate during hot summer days/nights. Although there is vents at the top and sides of the tent, it's designed to retain heat well. if you live anywhere where heat is a factor, this tent may be way to warm in the summer. It's an awesome tent for sure, but to anyone purchasing a 4 season tent, you may be better buying a three season like the trango 2 unless you plan on doing some heavy winter camping! happy buying!

This tent will stand up to almost anything nature throws at it! Any expedition tent used in the Himalayas can handle constant rain anywhere else.

High Wind, Heavy Snow

By:

It was aroud -30c, wind around 150km/h. Not a problem. Very safe. If you value your life. This tent will save you. Don't be cheap and by the lesser one. This is the extreme of extremes.

Yes. If you want a single wall tent... buy this one. If you want a double wall tent check out the Trango 2... otherwise more info is needed.

EV2 is it

I purchased this tent strictly for winter mountaineering - and it lives up to Ed's name. Everything was done right for cold winter nights. Thats what this tent was designed for. Wind was not strong but steady all night- and it performed as intended. 5 Stars to the EV2
