The Mountain Hardwear Ghost SL is a -40F/C sleeping bag, Mountain Hardwear's coldest-rated down offering. The Conduit SL laminate wicks moisture out of the bag, while preventing windy, cold, wet weather from getting in, letting you get what precious sleep you can. Welded, watertight baffle construction adds weather resistance, and 800-fill down provides insulation against even the coldest temperatures. A down-filled face gasket, double draft tube, and overfilled ergonomic draft collar all work to keep your warmth inside the bag. Mountain Hardwear's new comfort foot box design allows your feet to rest naturally, toes pointed out.
Bottom Line: Fahrenheit and Celsius meet at -40. Distance yourself from this frigid phenomenon with the Mountain Hardwear Ghost SL.
This bag has absolutely INCREDIBLE loft. Slept in -20c(~0f) like a log and woke up needing to remove layers in the middle of the night. Beats hell out of my synthetic -30c bag. I have a long and it is plenty big for shell and boot liners at night below my feet. (6'1) Shell held up great for breathing and keeping out dew/frost, but it hasn't had any direct contact with water yet.
Don't listen to the reviews giving 3/5 because they bought the wrong size, this is an absolutely amazing bag.
Bag is lightweight, the shell is bombproof. I'm a mountaineer and when I'm outside, I beat the hell outta my gear. This bag loves that, as long as you treat it nice when you get home.
I'm 5'11 and got the regular size bag. I just barely fit in, which is not good enough. When you're mountain climbing, the only way to dry your stuff is inside your sleeping bag at night. there was not enough room in this bag for my shell and boots to dry while i sleep. I also like to throw some hot water bottles in the bag with me - pre warms the bag and means I have nice warm water to drink in the AM.
Great bag, well made - the only construction problem is that the zipper snags like crazy. Will do the job, just make sure you order big.
The Ghost Sleeping bag was well made; however at 6' tall, I ordered the regular size. The bag was just to short for me, so I returned it without any problems. When the longer version of this bag is available, I will buy it.
I work and sleep outside in the Adirondacks for two weeks out the month and this bag has been absolutely great so far. If you plan on spending alot of time in a bag during cold weather this is a great one to do it in.
This bag is worth the every cent it costs. I took it on the Presidential Traverse in the White Mountains, Mt. Washington included, and this bag kept me warm and dry every even with a low of -30F and 50mph winds. I was much more comfortable than my friend in his rental bag.
