Mountain Hardwear Monkey Jacket - Women's - 2006

The Mountain Hardwear Monkey Women's Jacket is an absolute MUST for winter backcountry enthusiasts, and a great-looking alternative to the run-of-the-mill fleece jackets you see everyday. Made with Polartec Thermal Pro High Loft, the Monkey Woman's fleece, affectionately known as Monkey Phur, is more plush and shaggy than the common standard. It makes you warm just looking at it. The Monkey Woman is much lighter than comparable fleece jackets. Its warmth to weight ratio and compressibility are impressive. When you hold the Monkey Woman up to the sun, you'll see its noticeably open structure, dots of light poking through. It's SUPER breathable, so when you're skinning up the mountain quickly on a cold, bluebird day, you won't overheat and have to shed layers. For stormy days, just throw on a weatherproof shell, and you have a layering system that's tough to beat. Polartec Power Stretch cuffs and waist afford excellent freedom of movement, and are cut specifically to fit women well.

Bottom Line: No monkeys were harmed in the making of this awesome, technical fleece jacket.

Sad jacket

By:
June 29, 2006

I was so excited to get this jacket. I always pay top dollar for Mountain Hardwear under the impression that they manufacture a quality product. Much to my dismay, I wore this fleece for less than a month before the elbows started to blow out. The arm seams of my Sub-Zero hooded jacket are also disintegrating and the down is coming out; not merely "migrating out" as down-fill often does. So discouraging...

Warm as Toast

A warm, super-soft, super-snuggly jacket. Great styling too. Its only fault, and this is minor, is that the elastic waist has a tendency to ride up. Thank you, Mountain Hardwear, for your intelligent and well-made garments!

Monkey Woman

The jacket is sweet...really cozy and warm! I ordered the size 6, and since I always wear size small or x-small, I figured it would be alright, but it was really little! Other than that it's an awesome jacket!

Awesome!

This jacket totally impressed me. Very warm and perfect for walking on campus. The only down side is that it doesn't keep the wind out. But over all, a very stylish and warm jacket!

Fleece

By:
November 15, 2004

This fleece is great and super soft, however in high wind situations, it is definitely not wind-proof. If you're looking for a fall fleece, this jacket is great, but not so much for harsh winter conditions.

Snug as a Bug

By:
October 14, 2004

This is a great fleece! Make sure you read the sizing guide for Mountain Hardwear. I am 5'5'" and 105 lbs and found the size 10 to be a perfect fit! Just enough room to layer underneath. For someone who is always cold this is the jacket. And I'm also glad to find a woman's fleece in other colors than pink, purple or baby blue!! I wear this jacket everywhere and for every cold occasion.

This jacket has been so fun to have. It looks great, it protects from the cold weather, and it isn't bulky. I highly recommend all husband’s to buy this for their cute wives.

good product

By:

I bought the Jacket for a friend and she really liked it.
HAving read the other reviews that the jacket is quite small I ordered a size larger that I usually would have and I was just right. That is the reason why the Jacket "only" got 4 points. It is well made and really semms warm.

North Face What?

By:
December 28, 2004

This jacket is awesome! Ever since I got it, I cannot take it off. It is incredibly warm but be careful because it is not a windstopper. I am very pleased with this jacket and I totally recommend it. It doesn't compare to my North Face fleece.

Monkey Woman Jacket

By:
May 23, 2005

After searching around for ages to find a furry fleece jacket, I decided on this one. The reviews I read were a big help, especially about the sizing. It is true the sizes run small! And the jacket is also not very wind resistant. Despite this I LOVE IT!!! The shape is quite flattering and everyone wants to hug you...what more could you ask?

Warm without wind

By:
December 7, 2005

This jacket is so comfy and warm as long as it's not too windy, and under a shell it's quite toasty!

Girlfriend loves Monkey Woman

By:
November 11, 2005

I bought the Monkey Woman Fleece for my girlfriend, and she loves the plush, soft Polartec Thermal Pro material. She wears it all the time, except in the wind. Make sure to go an extra size up. I did and the jacket fits perfectly.

Awesome

The warmest light fleece around. If you're looking for wind-proof it isn't quite the one for you. But for warmth in a fleece, this is awesome and looks great too.

Great Outerwear!

By:

This fleece is the perfect second layer. It's warm enough to wear alone and slim enough to wear under a waterproof shell. Great choice!

Monkey Woman Jacket

By:
February 2, 2005

I ordered these for my petite daughter. Totally awesome fleece--like monkey fur! I like the stretchiness of the fabric. It runs very small! My daughter usually wears size 4-6. She's found that a 10 is the right size for her in this jacket (layered over a light sweater). Other Mountain Hardware fleeces that we have are not this small; they run more true to size.
