The Aqua Mira Water Treatment Solution is water treatment designed for wilderness and adventure travelers, campers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone concerned about the quality of drinking water. Aqua Mira is suitable for treating and improving the taste of water from rivers, lakes, streams, or straight from the tap. Aqua Mira's unique formula works quickly and efficiently by releasing oxygen in a highly active form to kill odor-causing bacteria - without unpleasant taste or odor. The Aqua Mira Water Treatment Kit is an easy-to-use, two-part system containing two 1 oz. bottles with dropper-tip applicators and mixing cap. Aqua Mira has a shelf life of four years. Once opened, the product will remain effective until the expiration date, if stored properly. The kit treats up to 30 gallons of water, and takes 5-10 minutes to purify. Aqua Mira is ideal for home and travel use, RVs, boating, camping, emergency preparedness kits, and any time water treatment is required.
I love Aqua Mira. My backpacking partner and I were unable to find it in California (we were told it isn't approved for sale in California) or Reno, Nevada; so we went searching on the internet for it. That is how much we liked using it last year. It is so light and work really fast. Those pur pills are similar but they only purify 30 liters compared to 30 gallons for the same price. We would have need three packages of the pur pills and they take longer than the Aqua Mira Water Treatment which is a liquid. The only difference I noticed it that it seems they have added a slight lemon taste to the solution. I actually wasn't crazy about this added taste. I liked it better when it didn't have any flavor. But it wasn't a big thing. I will still us it for my trips next summer. My old filter isn't getting any use now that I have found Aqua Mira. -Lewis
Its common knowledge that there really isnt any natural water source thats completely safe to drink anymore. Combined with a good filter (I recommend the Miniworks) Aqua mira provides complete confidence in your water. I like this stuff because its super easy to use and really eliminates any weird tastes, which I hate about similar iodine products. Great stuff and super easy to use. Easiest to pair up with a Nalgene 1 liter bottle.
This stuff works great. A liter is ready in 20 minutes. No chlorine taste. Never clogs up in the middle of a trip. The lightest, best tasting, most dependable alternative for water purifying that we've found. Scores a perfect 10 in our book!
I used Aqua Mira, along with a Safewater bottle filter (capacity 3 cups), as my water purification solution for a 600-mile solo hike on the AT. At the end of each day's hike, the Aqua Mira purified the 3 quarts of water I needed for the evening and morning meals and to get started on the trail in the morning, while the bottle filter handled drinking water needs along the trail during the day. The weight of the filter component of the bottle filter and the Aqua Mira bottles together was less than 8 ounces. The combination worked well for a solo hiker -- I had no problems during the hike that I could trace to impure water. The mixing routine required by the Aqua Mira wasn't a particular inconvenience at the end of the day -- it never really delayed my dinner!
Used Aqua Mira to treat our water on a week long hiking trip on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia in Oct 03. Very easy to use and the water tasted great. Will definately use the product again and recommend it to everyone.
Aqua Mira is a great alternative to water filters. Last summer, I got tired of carrying my heavy MSR Waterworks filter, so I explored my options with chemical treatments. Aqua Mira seems to work really well. Plus, there is no taste (like Iodine tablets). I've heard a lot of rumors that Aqua Mira can/cannot kill cryptosporidia, but I've used it on several trips and haven't yet gotten sick. Even with the best chemical treatments, you still need to be selective with your water source.... but that is a small price to pay for lightweight convenience.
