The Marmot Women's Furnace Fleece Jacket heeds the call for those needing a do-anything, go-anywhere fleece midlayer. This midweight jacket comes in handy under a shell on wet days, alone on autumn hikes, and in your pack as a just-in-case layer. Marmot made the Furnace Jacket with warm 200-weight Polartec Thermal Pro fleece and an athletic, easy-layering cut. The Furnaces articulated sleeves give you room to move, and the zip handwarmer pockets pull double duty as hand refuges and small-item safes.
Bottom Line: The Marmot Furnace Fleece Jacket warms you up without weighing you down.
I really love this jacket. The fleece is amazingly soft, lightweight, and warm, and the flat stitching is very high quality. The only downside is that it's a little on the short side, but that's simply personal preference. This will make a perfect liner for my winter shell (when it finally gets colder!)
Is there a sizing chart for this? I originally ordered the XS and it turned out to be too snug to fit anything more than a long-sleeve shirt under it, but I'm not sure whether to upsize to the Small or Medium.
Sizing Chart Marmot Women's Sizing Chart X Small Small Medium Large X Large Size 4 to 6 6 to 8 8 to 10 12 to 14 14 to 16 Bust 30-32 32-34 35-37 38-40 41-43 Sleeve 29-30 30-31 32-33 34-35 36-37 Waist 22-24 24-26 27-29 30-32 33-35 Hip 33-35 35-37 38-40 41-43 44-46 Inseam 27.5 28.5 30 31.5 32
Maybe you can make some sense out of that if not check out the link at the bottom. There is only XS sizes left so might be outta luck.
1) How wind resistant is the Marmot Furnace Fleece Jacket?2) Does it run true to size? I am 5'6'' with long arms, around 125 lbs. I usually wear a size medium in jackets/ shirts.3) How boxy is the fit?
The fit is not boxy at all, nicely fitted like most of Marmot's stuff. However, I found that it runs a little small-- I have an XS Marmot shell and an XS Columbia softshell that fit great, but the XS in this fleece was too small. I asked about a sizing chart, but if there isn't one I would say go a size up.
This jacket is warm and light. It fits snug and is is short, which works perfectly for cold spring or fall day hikes when you need to wear a backpack and don't want a jacket that bunches up on the bottom under your straps. It's also perfect for layering under a shell for snow sports. Excellent quality and it does not have those goofy thumb holes that everyone wants to stick in everything these days. Bottom line, love this jacket!
I bought this for my daughter.....she says it is HOT....I am not sure if this will work for her in the Pacific NorthWest but think it will as it is so damp there. Well made, I am very impressed with all of the Marmot jackets that I have purchased this year, and BackCountry is by far the best to deal with.
