Zip into the Marmot Men's Heat Shield Jacket and face the autumn winds head on during you next hike, climb, or ride. Employing windproof WindStopper fleece, this jacket shuns chilly weather. The Heat Shield Jacket's nylon reinforcements on the shoulders, arms, and sides improve durability, and take the static out of layering. Stash your energy gel, granola bar, or cell phone in the zippered chest pockets and head out.
Bottom Line: Mother Nature wants to steal your body heat and the Marmot Heat Shield Jacket stops her in her tracks.
I live in an area of Southern California where fifty mile an hour winds are not an uncommon occurrence. I wanted a fleece that was totally windproof while still remaining breathable. I found it in the Heat Shield. Great fit, great look, and the chest pockets are sizeable for several small items each. Very impressed with customer service and Marmot quality. Forget the Denali, go Marmot for the value.
I know Marmot has made some of the best fitting women's clothing for years now, all I need to do is watch my wife, she's dialed in. However recently I think Marmot might be putting it together for men also.
I use this fleece as a tool. It needs to fit close, no bulk, have great shoulder movement, offer warmth and most important stop the wind! This piece is one for the must have list! It is my go to layer when performance is on the line. I do not need distractions.
And while it was not even on my requirements list, its a great looking sporting garment, to top things off.
Only problem, too many people saw it and the inventory disappeared.
This doesn't have pit zips. The odd thing to me is that it doesn't seem to need it. It's been 65-75 degrees here lately and I've been doing a t-shirt underneath and been perfectly fine. What mine has are two fairly large pockets down at waist level where the fleece meets the side reinforcements. Nice surprise.
This is a exceptionally windproof jacket. I was warm and cozy in 30-50 mile per hour winds. Looks good and fits well. Fleece does tend to pick up hairs though so have a lint roller handy.
I bought the Heat Shield jacket for my dad, who is working in New Brunswick. He says it keeps the wind out, and keeps him warm all through the fall and into early winter until it drops into single digits at night. And then, he just layers it under a shell and it works great. It is roomy enough for comfort but cut slim enough to also layer comfortably.
As for quality of build, it is excellent. I would choose Marmont stuff over some of the other leaders like TNF or MTGear for the quality to cost ratio alon- not to mention sahrper design. Is as good if not better. As for wind protection it perfect and great fit & trim. Yet to feel any chills from wind. Overall, it's a great weight fleece and is much warmer than other bulkier items I use b/c of the Windstopper material and design specs like cuffs, skirt and zips. Great mid wt. jacket.
