Marmot designed the Women's Oracle Jacket to bridge the gap between budget rain layer and high-performance mountain shell. The lightweight Oracle works for summer backpacking but can tough it out during spring skiing and climbing. When the sun is out, stash the hood in the collar or take it off completely. High chest pockets mean you can access your energy bars while wearing a pack or a harness. The Oracle also features Marmot's Angel-Wing Movement, which allows full range of motion without the jacket riding up. Marmot fully taped the seams for maximum weather protection and gave the jacket a roomy fit so you can zip it over a fleece or softshell.
Bottom Line: Your backcountry future includes the Oracle.
I'm from CO, and I'm looking for a jacket that can withstand all kinds of weather (rain in the morning/snow in the evening). Has anyone used this in the snow? How does it handle?
I love this jacket. its long enough to cover my butt, roomy enough to layer underneath it, and sleeves are long enough to cover most of my hands if I want it to or I can tighten the sleeve ends to stay on my wrists. Its tapered so I don't look like a guy wearing it. it was definitely worth the price.
I was concerned with fit and with venting, but the XS is snug through the ribcage with plenty of room to move my arms and shoulders and enough room across the bust. The vents under the arms are more than adequate fore even high-energy activity. Darts are built into the elbows to allow for more action and the construction and waterproofing are both first-rate. A superb garment in all ways, and nice-looking, too!
I bought one for my wife because she liked mine so much. Unfortunately, the only size they had was a bit too small for her. I'll get her another one when her size/color comes in. I love mine. It is comfortable and doesn't burn me up. It is very light and packs down nicely in my backpack. The only thing I don't like is that I have not been able to tuck the hood into the collar without always being aware of it. It's a minor gripe, though, on an otherwise perfect jacket.
This jacket is not only water-proof but also almost 100% wind-stop. My height is 150cm, M size is fit and allow to wear one more thermal clothes. The thermal hood can keep me warm in the windy area.
The hood it attached with a zipper as well as with a Velcro tab on each side which tucks into a sleeve on the collar. This make it function more like an attached hood ie it doesn't flop around like most zip off hoods that aren't attached on the sides. The hood also rolls up into the collar.
I have two marmot rain jackets because I like the brand so much. I bought in a small in Red Garnet, I am 5'8" and 120 lbs. The size is a little big, but that's ok because it gives me the flexibility to layer under the jacket. Great purchase. The red isn't too bright either.
I'm nearly 6 feet tall, so I not only have trouble with sleeve length, I have trouble with torso length -- the measurements in the large and x/large sound good, but I'm wondering about the length of the jacket. Thanks!
I have the red one. My size is small so, I got small size and it fits perfectly. My friend actually commented on how it looks very nice. I've not wear it so long. Just once wore during one rain, worked well. I didn't wash it. So, no idea. But so far, so good.
I'm fairly certain for the Women's Oracle jacket Marmot is written on the bottom left of the jacket, not sure why you can’t make it out in the above photos above?
