Marmot Tamarack Jacket - Women's - 2006

The Marmot Women's Tamarack Jacket features clean, spartan lines that hide its true identity as a hiking, climbing, and rain jacket with a miniscule price. Marmot's waterproof breathable MemBrain keeps you completely dry in the horrendous downpour that hits two days into the backcountry. The Tamarack Jacket's excellent fit allows full freedom of movement, so you never feel claustrophobic on the trail. This versatile jacket also includes a powder skirt, zip-off hood, and pit zips for extra ventilation.

Bottom Line: Full-featured and incognito—the Marmot Tamarack Jacket.

Runs small

After being very happy with my own Tamarack jacket, I purchased one for my sister. It was a womens large (which I generally think of as 12/14). But it was way too small. They didn't have any XL, so they will credit back the amount. The Customer Service Rep was excellent and I hope they'll bring back these jackets in blue for the spring. The jacket is great. The womens sizing runs on the small size but Mens runs true.

Runs Very Small

By:
February 4, 2008

Ten years ago I bought a Marmot Jacket with the same features as the Tamarack: Uninsulated shell with Membrain, pit zips, zip-off hood, powder skirt, angel-wing movement, miscellaneous pockets. It is a women's large, and fits perfectly even though I usually wear XL. I LOVE my jacket, but it's, well, ten years old. After reading the RUNS SMALL review, I called Marmot, who said their sizing should be the same as ten years ago. So I ordered an XL, just to be safe. THIS JACKET IS WAY TOO SMALL. It is far smaller in the arms, chest and waist than my old jacket (and I wear fewer and thinner layers than anyone I know!) I understand that "style" dictates that we all look svelte on skis, but this is a technical jacket. I'm very disappointed and despair of finding a jacket with the features I want that fits. If you're built like a marathon runner, this jacket will serve you well. If you're a C-cup and have any upper body muscle, forget it.

Marmot Tamarack

Great shell. Great color. Kept the wind out and provided an outer layer with great pocket storage and easy access.
Wish I had had the zip in inner layer though and am ordering it.
