Leave your fleece at home, and layer up for your next ski or climbing trip with the Marmot Women's Ama Dablam Down Jacket. This 1lb 2oz jacket uses ultralight Gridlock down-proof fabric to hold the warm, 650-fill down insulation in place. Honeycomb baffles eliminate cold spots and add a touch of class to the Ama Dablam Down Jacket. The Aba Dablam's Angel Wing articulated fit provides un-restricted arm movement while the women's-specific cut hugs you comfortably. Marmot also gave this lightweight top a dropped tail hem for extra coverage while you ski, climb, or hike.
Bottom Line: Think outside the box, and layer with the Marmot Ama Dablam Down Jacket.
This jacket its great to use around town, city, cold weather and light enough to pack for a week long trip,it has a fitted cut and good length, i dont think it will be good for skiing like they state on the recommended use, its light, warm and not puffy at all so if you are looking for something to use as midlayer while skiing or for day to day use this is a great pick!
I love this jacket! I don't want summer to end, but knowing that this jacket will be there when the sun and mercury goes down is a comforting thought. The hood does fit over a helmet, the fuzziness on the insides of the pockets is indeed wonderful, and you really can lift your arms above your head without showing your midriff. A friend has the OR Aria jacket, and it's just a tiny bit lighter, less bulky, and more flattering, but a hell of a lot more cold. I'm really happy with my choice.
I love this jacket. It fits perfectly, the hood is just the right size, does not fall down over the front of my face. Not quite as warm as I had expected but it makes a great layer under a rain jacket which then makes it plenty warm.
The Ama Dablam Jacket is a great jacket. There are 2 things to keep in mind if you want to buy this jacket. It runs a bit large, and it is thinner than i though it would be. I live in Chicago and sometimes go snowboarding up in WI and the Upper Peninsula for that type of cold weather it might be necessary to wear an extra fleece underneath it to stay warm. I got it in White and I love the color the hood on the jacket is great!
I have a 40 year old Snow Lion parka which has takenme down to -30o Backcountry hiking, but its not in good shape - its big, bulky and goes severalinches below my waist. What is the closest thing to it I could buy today - i. e. maximum warmth, goodfor very, very cold weather. my
I wear this jacket as a layer most of the time. It fits well under my Arcteryx Javelin shell. Do not buy this jacket if you are expecting a sub zero down. It works best as a layer with another layer underneath. This is my favorite hood on a down jacket, it actually has enough down it to keep my head warm, and its helmet compatible.
Well the jacket conforms to the body nicely......but for a winter jacket in harsh Edmonton winter weather??? (Edmonton got to -50 degrees last year with wind chill) Not sure it will cut it. It was a lot thinner from what i thought it would be. I even took it out from the bag in came it and left it out for a week to get more volume to it. Nothing. I was really surprised at this considering it has 650+ Fill Goose Down in it. I'm sorry to say...but i was not impressed.
I really want to thank backcountry for helping me in my search for the best jacket. They have helped me over the phone and on live chat. I ordered many items and it was easy to send them back to keep looking for the items that fit my needs and size. The Ama Dablam jacket was too bulky to fit in my shell, but it was nice looking and very warm. Thanks again!!!
The jacket itself would have been great. I commented earlier on the Medium for my size (5'7 160)that the arms were too short. So I ordered a Large and although the arm length was better, the upper arms and body were too large and I had to send it back. Sad because it would have been a great jacket.
Wasabi is a good adjective for the green color. It's a little brighter than I would have liked. I'm 5'7" 160 and in the Med the waist is a little bit tight and the arms are a little bit short but the body is just right so I'm kind of torn between which size to get.
The jacket looks great on. As a matter of fact, this is my second one. The only thing I had to do was order a larger size because it was tight around the chest. Also, I purchased the white one and it looks "dirty" in spots because you can see some of the down through the material.
This is the greatest jacket. We have had a very snowy and cold winter that seems to last and last. I purchased this jacket towards the end of the season and it has done it's job. It is the perfect weight and easy to layer underneath and not have that bulky look. My husband bought the mens addition and has gotten to wear it often. He likes that it isn't bulky and that it has a hood.
I love this jacket. It's lightweight, but extremely warm. I needed a hood and this hood is nicely designed. The tech fit of this jacket is really wonderful. It's not too tight, but has some nice shape to it and goes easily under my softshell for days with some precip. I'm 5'7" and 145 pounds and the medium fits me really well. There's room under it for a wool sweater if needed. This jacket is proof that warmth and good looks can go hand in hand. Why wear a boxy, shapeless down jacket? Get this one!
I used to always be cold, but not wearing this jacket. It's warm and cozy, with a generous hood that's easy to adjust. I love how it packs into the inner pocket. I wish the elastic around the wrists wasn't so tight, and that the sleeves themselves were a tad longer, but this fit does make it easy to layer the jacket under a shell.
I love this jacket! It is the perfect outer or base layer when skiing, climbing, hiking, or just looking good around town. The hood is generous and actually covers your head. The cut is perfect and still has a lot of room for movement. It keeps you warm and dry by wicking away moisture and preventing water from soaking through the outer layers. I would recommend this jacket to anyone!
I've gone through many coats and jackets after living in a mountain town for 11 years. This down jacket is by far the best I've owned. The hood is a brilliant addition and kept me toasty warm on the coldest and windiest chairlift ride of the season. The only bummer is that it isn't waterproof, but I don't plan on wearing it on a rainy day.
This jacket will work great for layering, but I was out in -2 the other day and toasty warm. It's fitted, not too bulky, great color (got cardinal), not too long and true to size.
I love the color (wasabi) and fit and the jacket feels warm but light and not bulky under a shell. Definitely not a big puffy down jacket but I didn't expect that it would be. I have gotten lots of nice comments on the jacket.
The jacket looks great on. I purchased a medium but the arms are a little short. I have had the coat for two weeks wore it a few times and the zipper went out on it it already so iam not a huge fan but it sure keeps you warm if the zipper works.
