I was looking for an additional layer for winter camping. I was very happy with the jacket. I was hoping for a little more down but overall I'm very happy. It has a nice generous cut to fit over the layers I use during the day. It packs nice and small and the hood snugs in tightly.

Climbed Rainier in this jacket and it was perfect. Had it stashed in my pack for most of the way up at around 13,000 feet the wind started kicking up and it got really cold, even while walking. Threw this jacket on and was as cosy as a quala bear.
Love the fact that it is super light and for the price its a great warm jacket.

Never used it in really cold weather so don`t know how well it handles. Hopefully doing some ice climbing this year.. so will have a better idea.

One weird thing about it is it seemed to shed a little down the first time I put it on.

This is a very, very nice jacket. It's surprisingly warm for the weight! I've used it as a layer under a Pro shell and also alone and stayed warm no matter what. The beauty of this is it packs down extremely well! The fit is cozy! I love this jacket!

I've had the Ama Dablm now for a couple of years and I definately like it. The problem I have is that the hood is too big. To me this is a after ski or sitting around the campfire jacket and there really is no need to have a helmet compatible hood. Other than that, it works really well. The fleece lined pockets are a definate bonus. Like all down jackets, some of the feathers poke through the outer shell, but this is normal. Overall, it is definately worth having....especially at 20% off like it is now.

The jacket was designed as a lightweight packable midlayer, and in those areas it is perfect. It is not meant to be a outerlayer. It is extremely light, retains its loft very well, and packs down nice and small. I have been very happy with my coat. Another great product from Marmot. Another great price from Backcountry.

I have owned this jacket for only about a month so far and love it. Its super light, warm, fits well, and is worth the price. I looked at a few other jackets similar to this one but chose this over the other them. I am a size medium and went with the red color. I am 5'10 160pds and this jacket...once you give it a slight pull at the bottom to trap the warm air and throw that hoodie over your head and use the 3 adjustments to make it not only cozy as all...but feel very techy and also holds up with wind. This jacket has done well in windy conditions ranging from 5-15 mph and have worn it in temps as low as 25-35 degrees and was comfortable with only a tee underneath. Seems block enough wind so you stay warm. I would recommend this jacket.

The bonfire is much more bright/orange than shown in the picture.
Otherwise, this thing packs well, is ultra light and ultra warm. Anything above 0-10 degrees and you're fine wearing a tshirt under this. Also should fit under most shells (my Medium fits under a Medium sized Marmot Exum, which runs somewhat narrow as is) Blocks wind pretty well but can soak up water pretty quickly so not the best idea for heavy snow wear. The good news is, it dries out pretty quickly if you do get caught in a storm.
Haven't had it too long so I can't comment on wear. Construction seems pretty solid, same as most other Marmot gear, but the material itself looks like it's not too rugged.

Highly recommended packable fall/winter back up jacket or main layer over a wicking type of shirt. Winter wise this packs down to about the size of a football, incredibly important for hiking / weight concerns when trekking in the backcountry. Having a packable down layer is a necessity for safety. For what it weighs the warmth to bulk/weight ratio is impressive. Light but durable non-waterproof construction with quality, non jamming zippers and a roomy hood. Perfect length for a normally proportioned 5'11 175 athletic body type(size large). After a week of regular camping use, packing and unpacking there is no noticeable loss of down from the seams and its surprising how well it sheds those wonderful camping odors.. Buy one for a light outer layer in the city, mid-layer for colder hiking or a SOLID packable emergency warmth solution in the backcountry.

Tied for first place in jackets I've owned (with a Patagonia rain shell). It is amazingly warm, given its weight. I can squeeze it into a stuff sack the size of a fanny pack, so it's great for winter backpacking. Keep it out of the rain, though. It's slim enough to wear under a shell.

I bought this jacket for my husband (L) 6'1" and 195 lbs (size recommendation) - and he loves it completely! It is a mid layer and so light that you don't even know you have it on. It is very stylish and slimming - and so comfy looking on him too. He is very happy as it was his birthday gift and he wears it all the time. So warm!

This jacket is very light,comfortable and has a good fit. It is not a cold weather jacket. By itself maybe good for temps down to -6c as a mid layer with hard shell over top -15c. so for warmer weather it works well. I think Marmot is a little shy on the Down on this jacket. This is not designed as an outer layer and will not stand up to the abuse. over all I am happy with the jacket as a mid layer. BUY ON SALE

This Jacket is defenatly on the cuting edge of down jackets. Warm, Light,durable,and convient. Im a city slicker that ocasionaly goes out to his bolder to climb.In both areas this jacket excells.
Its small enough to fit in to my backpack while running around but still packs a punch when its cold and its not a HUGE jacket.What I like is that you can wear it inside a room and not die of a heat stroke like most down jackets ive owned. When Im outside and its 32 out Im still warm! How sweet! The hood feels Great! The draw cord that goes around your head really helps. Climbing this thing rocks!! The way that they made the cut is awsome. You can really retch with out showing off your back skinzz off.
Over all if your looking for one of the sickest down jackets out there, this is it.

I bought this jacket for a warm layer during breaks in ski touring. It's got a generous cut and long in the back, so definitely did the trick and kept me warm! Not too bulky so I could wear it under a hard shell with wet weather, as the jacket isn't meant to be weatherproof.

Only reason for 4/5 stars is that there's room for improvement in the baffling in the back - the channels are so long that it's easy for the down to migrate to one end or the other. The front has shorter channels, so they were always really puffy.

Great colour (I got the green), good fitting hood (lots of adjustments), packs small (inside pocket is a stuff sack), light, warm, nice style, and great price!

This is a great lightweight small tightly packed jacket I have been for. It can be comfortably worn under the outer coat, plus a raincoat on top. I traveled long distance to remote areas of exotic mountain or rain forest. Highly recommended for its intended wearing purpose.

This jacket was very thin, not for cold NYC weather. I was very unsatisfied with it and returned it the same day. 650 Fill Haha. My kids Marmot 650 fills seems puffier than this jacket. This jacket seem to be something for a day in September, March or April NYC weather. Not November to February. NO GOOD. Very Disapointed!!

I love this jacket. I wear it as my winter jacket in NYC and it is surprisingly warm given how light it is. Great for layering. The handwarmer pockets are very warm, as is the hood, which conveniently adjusts with elastic draw strings. Great buy.
