Marmot NYX Tent 2-Person 3-Season - 2006

The Marmot NYX 2-Person 3-Season tent will be your NYXt tent, and possibly your last. Built with bomber construction that's designed to last a lifetime (and packaged with one of the best repair kits in the biz in case you're not so careful when wielding your pocket knife), the NYX will likely outlast your hiking shoes, your car, and your current home. The combination of sleeves and clips makes set-up a snap. The Knee Poles actually provide more interior space while increasing the strength of the tent. An 18sq ft front vestibule gives you plenty of porch room should the NYX truly outlast your house. Marmot's new true bathtub floor provides extended coverage should weather turn stormy.

Bottom Line: Now You're, huh, there are no good words that start with X, but now you're set for life with the NYX.

Condensation EVERYWHERE!

By:
August 13, 2009

Took this to the Rawah Wilderness in Colorado. It got down to 25 degrees at night and with no high ventilation on this rain fly it was practically raining inside by morning. Condensation froze to the inside of the fly and when the morning sun hit it ... drip drip drip all over our down sleeping bags. Very unpleasant! Maybe this is why Marmot discontinued this tent. It is why I'm selling it and buying something else.

Great tent for roomy solo

By:
March 10, 2006

I use the NYX as a solo tent. I may sacrifice 1-1/2 lbs over a true solo unit, but the extra room is more than worth it. I can easily store all my gear within the tent and/or vestibule, and I have plenty or room for changing clothes. Ample headroom is a strong feature of this tent. I have used the NYX on 4 outings in the Blueridge Mountains. Conditions included significant rain, snow and ice. Temps dropped under 20F. The tent remained very taut, even under a load of ice and snow. Due to the steep sides (which afford greater interior space), precip accumulations were minimized. The tent is well vented, so condensation is not an issue. Fit and finish are top notch (what you would expect from Marmot). An all-around winner.

Great Lightweight Tent

By:
June 27, 2005

I have only had one chance to use the tent once, but it seems to be great. It is light (one of the major reasons I got it), easy to set up, and roomy for two. It vented fairly well with the vestibule completely closed on a 25F night. There was some condensation on the inside of the fly, which probably could have been minimized if I had left half of the vestibule open, but on a cold night you can always expect some. One small thing I would change would be the size of the vestibule (bigger!)- I would like to fit two packs and my dog in there and that is hard, but I realize that would increase the weight of the tent as well. Hopefully I will be happy with this tent for many nights to come!

marmot 2-person tent

By:
June 7, 2006

This is a good 2-person tent. It preformed well. I did not like the fact the rain fly has to be staked to the ground. It’s no problem during warmer seasons, but I wonder about frozen ground or powder snow during my winter trips to White Mountains.

Marmot just keeps improving their tents. This is an excellent choice for those who savor weight savings, but still value durability. Sure it only has one door, but it’s on the end of the tent so big deal! Plenty of mesh gives excellent ventilation.

Righteous Tent

I have had a chance to use two different Marmot Tents. The Swallow and the NYX. Both have stood up to the test of time and weather. Pretty bomber if you ask me. Both have been used it ~10F weather, in ice storms, and with mega winds. Talking 70mph artic gales. They withstood well in all conditions, even when other tents in the group did not!
