Lowa Vertex GTX Hiking Boot - Womens - 2006

The Lowa Vertex GTX hiking boot utilizes Lowa's solid engineering and Gore-Tex materials to create this lightweight, waterproof, breathable masterpiece. The Vibram Vertex rubber sole has a non-slip universal profile. The thermo-plastic cuff is an anatomical and asymetyrical cuff that aligns itself with the actual axis of the ankle and lower leg. It is there to prevent ankle injuries. It is the first of it's kind in the world of hiking boots.

Bottom Line: Lace up a Lowa Vertex and step into the new millennium of hiking boots.

As good as Backpacker says!...

Excellent boots. Very light but with a very good ankle support. Almost waterproof (not quite...). As comfortable as hiking shoes!

Lowa Vertex

By:
July 7, 2005

I love Lowa boots; they fit my feet like gloves and the Vertex was no exception. They have bedroom slipper comfort right out of the box. I do, however, have two major complaints.
1. They are billed as a backpacking boot. They would only work well on a trail. They just aren't rugged enough to survive many hours of talus scrambling. Too many seams.
2. They are billed as waterproof. When I put my foot (briefly) into a swollen Sierra stream (water barely over the foot part of the boot -- and I had gaiters on) the water came oozing into the boot from all around the foot section. I thought the entire purpose of Gore-Tex boots was their "wonderful" waterproof feature. My old leather Lowa Scouts perform many times better upon immersion into water. At least then my feet had a significant chance of staying dry. When I took off the boot the toe portion of both socks was soaked! Good thing I was on a day trip.

The Swiss know how to do it right

Great boots. You need to order 1/2 size smaller than your normal shoe size. Fits great, and I was lucky enough to get these at a great price. I am now looking for a low Lowa shoe/boot. This is part of their trekking series, which is more outdoor walking on trails and Nordic Walking, not heavy duty hiking. I plan on using these while hiking on marked trails this summer. Very lightweight and comfy.

Vegetarian Finds Love

After a few failed attempts of trying to replace my old boots which were so bad my cobbler even refused to touch them, I stumbled upon these. The Vibram sole offers excellent traction and the boot itself is soft (i.e. the boots won't break your feet in, you'll break the boots in). The midweight boot, at first, seemed heavy to me (coming from the tropics and whatnot) but I soon found that with a good pair of socks they were just as good in the desert as they were on the glaciers. Pay special attention to the size, you will want to order the correct European size (so take a peak at what the tag says on your favorite shoes under EUR to get the right fit).

Great boots, fantastic service

By:

I just ordered my wife a pair of the Lowa Vertex GTs (to match the pair I have been using for the last few weeks). I ordered on Wednesday, arrived on Friday. Top-notch service. I ordered her boots 1/2 size large as the Vertex tend to run that way. They fit like a glove. Already put 5 miles on the treadmill and no break-in required. She loves her boots and I definitely think mine are the best hiking boots I've had in 50 years of hitting the dusty trails. She is wearing them as her "about-town boots" because of their overall comfort.
