The Lowa Tempest II Lo Hiking Boot for Men is Lowa's most versatile outdoor shoe. It's good for light hiking, scrambling on rocks, and urban hikes to class or work. The Vibram sole has enough bite to take you confidently through the woods and the suede upper enough style to wear to work. A climate control insole uses the natural pump action of your stride to force water vapor out of the shoe ensuring dry and comfy feet. Moisture management is further enhanced by a quick-drying Dri-Lex liner. These shoes wear comfortably for the long haul thanks to an injected PU midsole, a Cordura ankle band, and the stability and support of a nylon shank. This shoe runs large, select ½ size below your normal shoe size.
Bottom Line: You'll buy them for hiking, you'll wear them everywhere.
I was looking to buy a second pair of the Tempest II. I figure they've served me so well, I owe em a good review. The things wear like iron and feel great underfoot. My only complaint is that the blue faded. I am going to try the green and see if they hold their color better. After my Vasque Sundowners, I thought I'd never love another. But these...ahhhh.
These shoes are extremely comfortable! At first, just like all shoes, I felt that these shoes had to be broken in, but it did not take near as long to break them in as most shoes I have bought in the past. The shoes seem like that they will be very reliable in terms of durability but only time will tell. The whole purpose of me buying these shoes is in hopes that they will last a long time for me, and as comfortable as these things are I hope that they prove to be very durable. So far as it stands, I would highly recommend these shoes for anybody who wants a great shoe for a very reasonable price.
Great shoes. Comfy, supportive, and waterproof. Nice looks; a combo of newschool skate-style, while still looking athletic. Note on sizing; these fit true to size, not sized large as the description said. (I had to return the original ones I bought and reorder).
The Lowa Tempest Lo Hiking Boots are excellent. They are extremely comfortable, I have been trail hiking in them a couple times as well as just using them for everyday shoes & they have never been uncomfortable on my feet. Plus they are nice looking too, on the first day I wore them I got 3 compliments on them, I've never gotten compliments on my shoes before I didn't think people noticed what shoes I was wearing.
I've had great luck with Lowa hiking shoes. My feet are a bit too wide for women's boots, and the Lowa's fit really well. I've had my first pair for three years, and they still stick to the trails of the North Carolina mountains. I did need a little more grip, though, so I got a new pair! Very little break-in time needed. Try 'em!
I have a pair of Lowa hi-cut boots that are great. I was looking for a pair of low cuts for day hikes. I bought the same size Tempest II (10.5) and tried to use the same socks. The fit was not satisfactory. Not enough room in the toe box and generally not comfortable. Bad toe box will mean lost toenails. Returned boots and found a pair of Merrill low cuts that fit well. Am looking at the Lowa Renegade for my next pair of high cuts.
These low-cut boots will keep you trekking, climbing, and cruising across even the toughest terrain in dry climates. I wear these guys every day working in a high desert environment and they have held up great. They also function as killer approach boots.
The laces and tongue lock your foot comfortably into the heel cup. The ventilation keeps your feet surprisingly cool. Phunky.
I live in the mountains and wanted a sturdy and functional shoe to do my walking in. This shoe is very well made and requires absolutely no break in time. It takes a beating quite nicely. I am very happy with this shoe. I ordered the wrong size because someone told me Lowa runs big. They don't in my opinion and I had to reorder. I didn't like the insoles that came with the shoe. They didn't feel right to me. I put in my own insoles and I was off and running. With these shoes I got the nice feeling I don't get much nowadaysthat I actually bought something of exceptional quality for an affordable price.
All of the great reviews I read about these boots were correct. They are wonderful! No break in time was necessary and the ½-size less than normal when ordering was right on. I'd recommend these to anyone who wants a lightweight hiking boot that can be worn anytime. I wear mine to work everyday.
LOWA could probably charge $150 for these; they just feel that good underfoot. Fit and finish are superb, AND I understand that the production of the midsole materials is more environmentally friendly than the otherwise universal EVA. Bonus!! Broad, sturdy soles with serious traction feel right at home on the mountain or trail. This is a day hiker that is worth more than its weight in goldunreserved five stars.
