The Lowa Renegade II GTX MID is a mid-height all terrain and all weather boot sheathed in lovely water-repellent nubuck leather with Cordura around the ankle. Part of Lowa's All Terrain Collection, these boots are great for backpacking with moderate loads as well as day hiking through varied terrain and weather. The Renegade II GTX Mid's provide outstanding climate & moisture control with a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex lining. The insole also keeps the foot dry by using the natural pump action of walking to force water vapor out of the shoe. A beefy Vibram sole designed exclusively for Lowa will keep you as sure footed as a mountain goat on rough terrain. These boots wear comfortably for the long haul thanks to an injected PU mid-sole, with the stability & support of a ¾ shank all the while. THIS BOOT RUNS LARGE. SELECT A 1/2 TO A FULL SIZE BELOW YOUR NORMAL SHOE SIZE.
Bottom Line: Stand on your own in the Renegade II GTX boots. You won't be disappointed.
This is the first time I have ever ordered footwear of any kind through the mail or the Internet. These boots rock! They not only fit perfectly, but they have kept my feet warm and dry and so very comfortable from the very first hike. I snowshoe in them regularly, here in Colorado, and hike up these steep mountains with complete comfort. Thanks for selling such high-quality products. Rona
I received these boots on Friday and took a couple of day hikes Saturday and Sunday, nothing big 5-10 miles each in the Ozark hills. Lite, comfortable,if their durable I won't switch.
I purchased, and returned, four pairs of boots over the course of a year. I am very particular about what I need/ like in my hiking boots.
I have narrower heels and a broader forefoot, with the area around my toes is wide, which means I'm prone to losing my pinky toenails. My big toe turns up, which means I'm prone to bruising on my big toenails. I need hiking boots with a larger toebox, but not a larger boot that will cause my heel to slip.
I found the ideal boot for my feet in the Lowa Renegade. They are a mid-weight hiking boot, perfect for lighter backpacking trips and day hikes. Broke in easily. Replaced the insole with spencos to improve comfort. I'm very pleased with these boots!
A note on sizing--they run true to size. Order your proper size; do not order down a half size! Hiking boots are supposed to be roomy in the toes to prevent toe jams on downhills. I wear a street shoe 8 and am happy with my size 8 Lowa's.

I normally wear a size 7.5 stret shoe. Should I buy a size 7, or a size 6.5, hiking boot? Or should I purchase both sizes, then send 1 back? Do I have to pay to return a pair?
I've been able to run my first pair through a summer and then archery season here in Montana. What a boot. Light and very comfortable and waterproof, be sure to keep them treated with Grangers G Wax for Smooth Leather, and they'll serve you well. A very good quality product. Actually my second pair of Lowas that I own, and I won't look anywhere else for quality boots.
I had to return my Lowa Renegade women's hiking boots because they were a half size too small. Considering this is the third pair I've owned over the years I was surprised they didn't fit. But I noticed that the label in the boot had changed. The U.S. size was the same as in the past, but the EU and UK sizes were both a half size smaller than my previous pairs. I just received a new pair that are a half size larger, and they fit perfectly.
I think I like 'em! Being fairly new to hiking boots and painfully spoiled by MBT's, I found these hard to break-in and adjust to their hard soles. But last night I took a long walk in the bitter cold, and found them to be warm and for the most part comfy and supportive. I think on future trecks, I will line them with a gel insole of some sort to help with some of the impact on my poor over-tired feet and back. All and all, I recommend them. They do run long so if you're in between sizes, order down by 1/2.
This is my second pair of Lowa Renegade GTX mid hiking boots. I hunt and train dogs for field work and the last pair just wore out after 5 years. That's a lot of walking under harsh conditions (mud, briars, all kinds of terrain). I take a size nine medium width and when I put them on they are immediately comfortable and need no breaking in. I find them to be true to size.
