Lorpen Coolmax Multisport Ultra Light Shorty Sock - 2007

The Lorpen X-Treme Bike and Trail Running Coolmax Thin socks are designed to keep your feet cool high-output workouts in hot weather. Woven extra thin to give your feet plenty of room to breathe, these sock will still outlast all the others you've got sitting in your drawer. A unique blend of Coolmax, Lycra, and Polyamide to create a sock that retains its shape and resists movement and abrasion. The high Coolmax content (75%) makes this sock ideal for warm climates because of superior breathability and moisture-wicking capabilities. Thoughtful construction techniques are the benchmark of Lorpen products. These socks have increased material in high-friction areas like the heel and toes, but noticeably little material at the hand-stitched flat toe seam.

Bottom Line: Thin on material, heavy on technology.

Great pair of socks!

By:
March 23, 2007

I usually have "hot" feet, which tend to sweat a lot. I was hesitant to use these when it was 40 degrees out but they are great. Very thin yet prevent any rubs/sores from running. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs workout socks w/o the added warmth.

Great socks!

By:
June 20, 2007

After 3 weeks in Europe, I was so glad I had two pairs of these great socks! They absorb perspiration easily and reduce friction. I walked and walked, but did not get one blister. You can hand wash them and they will air dry in a few hours. Well worth the price! I left my cotton socks in the suitcase after trying the Coolmax socks.

Disappointed

By:
March 23, 2009

I've been purchasing the Lorpen Ultra LIghts for over 5 years -- and they have been awesome. Very thin & extremely durable -- and the coolmax works great to prevent "sweaty feet". I use the socks on a daily basis, although they excel for running & biking as well.
BUT!....
My current shipment as of March 2009 --- The quality of these socks has changed for the worst!! Although they have proven adequate thus far, I must admit if it were not for the fact that I got them on sale, I would be returning them.
Not sure what is up with the Lorpen company -- but, I can only suspect out-sourcing of their manufacturing like so many other companies that no longer seem to care about quality.
I am sooooo disappointed as there is not another sock on the market that could have previously compared to these. Before I purchase socks again, I'll be doing some shopping research & will likely buy from a different manufacturer.

if you like thin socks, these are the ones!

By:
July 15, 2005

I’m very happy with my purchase. I use them for mountain biking, the thin sock allows a good performance shoe fit. These are super thin, almost liner like. And I was impressed at how well they fit. I've never heard of this company before but I will be back for more!

Best Yet

By:
May 27, 2008

These are the best trail running socks I have purchased to this date. Great fit, breathe well, manage moisture VERY well, and I like where they come up on my ankle (a few centimeters above the top of my trail runners). Don't think i'll even try another sock.

Multisport Coolmax Light Shorty Sock

By:
November 12, 2007

If you read my review on the Multisport Modal Shorty Sock, the light version has all the same features: Comfy, smooth, doesn't bind in the toe, perfect wicking, great snug fit that doesn't cut off circulation, and the height is perfect for use with a boot, (often times on trail either running in trail shoes, or hiking in boots, the socks are just a wee bit short - not these). It is light and smooth, so when I wore them playing golf the other day, I was sliding around in my shoes, but in sneakers they are great, and of course stylish.

I like 'em!

By:
August 9, 2006

I use these socks primarily for kayaking. Worn inside various low profile kayaking footwear, often neoprene, these socks are performing nicely. They keep my feet from drowning in perspiration when out of the water and keep the chill off when in the water. Fit well and don't bunch up when swimming. While in the backcountry, these socks are easily and quickly washed and dried.

I expect I'll be adding more of these to my sock drawer!

no more blisters

By:
July 29, 2005

The Lorpen X-Treme trail running socks layered over Injinji toe socks have been a great combination, not a single blister in runs up to 50 miles. Thin, cool and comfortable, and seem to be very durable.

Great socks!

By:
April 15, 2008

These socks breathe well and seem durable, so they're perfect for mountain biking, which is my intended use for them. I've been looking for something comparable to the Nike Kevlar socks that I've had for years that are the only ones that don't seem to disintegrate after a few rides, and these seem to be it!

As an ex-jock I never thought I'd switch from my white cotton to these but I have significant foot issues and these provide the dryness, coolness and comfort I need.

These have a perfect fit when you pull them on and they are really nice on the trail. Also when you want to let them air out, these dry very fast and your feet never get that "Overdone" feeling in any foot wear. Great socks for sure!

Great!

Nice, lightweight sock. They stay in place and don't slip at all, and are great for warm weather conditions. I hardly notice that they're on. I will definitely get more of these.

Just what we needed

By:
January 12, 2009

The thinest sock I could find online. I got them for my hubby because his new running shoes were a little too tight at first so he needed a super thin sock until he broke them in. He loved them and said they fit perfectly. He would like a 2nd pair.

Hot footin'

By:
June 11, 2007

Two very important pieces of advice my momma gave me as a youngster; never eat anything bigger than your head and you can never have too many pairs of shoes. To go with those shoes you need lots of socks. These Lorpen Multi sport Coolmax Light Shorty sock fit the bill for traveling down hot weather adventures. The snug sock is comfortable and wraps around your foot for an almost seamless fit. The cool max material keeps your toes dry and the ankle height is perfect to stop migrating sand or dirt from working its way to your delicate treads. To top it all off, they are mighty fine to look at as well.

Light. Cool. Comfortable.

I put on trail running miles with these socks and will definitely buy more of the Lorpen Coolmax products. Durable and protective sock with minimal bulk. Instantly cools your foot once out of your shoe. Great sizing, not too restrictively elastic. You'll love these.

These socks are great in warm to hot weather. The super thin material keeps you from getting blisters and is extremely durable. Weather it be race day or a 3-hour training brick, these socks will keep you feet dry and comfortable with ever bunching during exercise. Highly recommended!!!

Great thin socks

By: Backcountry.com Employee
June 6, 2006

These socks are amazing. I can't believe how much performance you get out of such a thin sock. These socks are perfect for runs or hikes in hot weather. They provide plenty of protection against blisters, but the thinness helps keep your feet cool. I was also surprised by the amount of support the socks gave. I originally thought the socks would have durability issues with how thin they are, but they are still going strong after three months of use. Since I currently only have one pair, I wear them a couple times a week. I will definitely be getting more of these socks.

Whoa.

By: Backcountry.com Employee
July 18, 2005

Whoever thought that socks could be a technical, sick piece of gear? My MTB socks have always been thin, nylon type things. These are form-fitted, cushioned but still thin. Incredibly comfortable; I'm gonna wear my pair out in no time because they're all I use anymore!
