Lib Technologies NAS Jib Alpine Ski - 2008

The nutsoid graphics on the Lib Tech NAS Jib Alpine Ski might scream “Put me in the park!”, but give these party boards a spin around the block and you'll see that they love to get out and rock the mountain as much as any frat-fiend. Pretty wide dimensions (93mm underfoot) provide plenty o' float in the fluffy you-know-what, and a NASKAR technology wood core with fiberglass power layers creates heaps of strength and pop. And lest we appear ungrateful, let us all revere the holy, the sacred, the magnificent Magne-Traction edges. Skiwompus (pun intended) steel edges create so much edge-to-snow contact that you can round them off for the park, then take them out on the rest of the mountain and still get more grab than a hot girl crowd surfing at a butt-rock concert.

Bottom Line: Grab your Narrow Ass Snowboards and hit the hill.

WOW! These are wide!

Alright, so I bought these with one idea of sizing in mind, my usual length of 176 for freeride/park skis (I bought the 178 Jib). Then today they came in the mail and I unwrapped these insanely gorgeous park/freeride/fat skis--they even say 'WIDE' on the factory skew sticker. I almost think that the 178 might be too much ski for throwing down in the park--unless your going big (40'+) and want the landing gear of a 747 on your feet. I'm 5'11", 165 lbs. and I'm thinkin' these are a bit too big. Just keep in mind these puppies are bigger than you think and you will probably want risers to add some extra torque to help lay the wood over on the groomers. But if you want a big ski for huge air, crud crunching, 30'+ cliff landings and powder surfing--the 178 for my size is perfect. Just make sure you know where you want to mount your stance and have someone who knows what the hell they're doing with freeride mounting style handle the set-up.

BOTTOM LINE: They're built like a brick $#!t-house (5/8" thick in the center) and worth every penny.

Low tips? I noticed the tips are very low when i saw a pair in person. Has anyone had experience with these in deep snow or chopping through crud? Also, does the re-curve version of this ski, or the pipe NAS, have any more height to the tips? I'm worried about soft snow days on groomers and crud.

I don't think the low tips has any effect in soft snow or crud, line elizibeths, bacons and prohets have low tips and they are powder skis, as was the 1st genaration salomon gun/pocket rocket.

I'm kinda cerious whether these things are all they are cracked-up to be. If i'm gunna spend this much, i gotta no it will work. And i was also wondering if anybody had a good recomendation as far as bindings go, and what is a good brand. I'm not gunna lie, i'm a little bit of a green horn, so i need help. Thanks,

I dont know about the ski but I will recomend a binding I know more about Rossignol Dynastar and Armada. For bindings go with look px 14's or rossignol's 140 check those out or even look into the 150 or 200 binding. For look and dynastars 150 and 200 its Px 15 and Px 18. sorry that i dont know about this ski. peace. These skis are really nice; they're light and the unheard of edge hold is not a myth. On this model though, they have a low tip, which gives you more contact area and a lighter ski, but its easier to get buried in deep snow. For bindings, look/rossi/dynastar bindings are the same thing, so you would get whichever fits your din range and how much lift you want. I would also check out the marker series with the short toe piece (duke/griffon). Those bindings are way lighter and let the ski have a more natural flexps the pics for this ski are incorrect. the left ski is pictured here, the right one is not. look at libtechnas.com to see the correct graphic, which looks even cooler in person.
