La Sportiva Wildcat Trail Running Shoe - Women's

The Women’s Wildcat Trail Running Shoe includes the same super-sticky FriXion rubber that you find on La Sportiva’s climbing shoes, so you know it’ll stay put on the slick stuff. While all those other poor suckers slip and fall on that traversing rock slab section, you get along just fine. La Sportia also added aggressive lugs for increased traction in the mank and an AirMesh upper to provide serious breathability.

Good, light-weight trail shoes

By:

This was my first try at Sportiva's and I was pleasantly surprised. I run trails in the midwest so far from super-technical terrain but they are a great light-weight option as far as trail shoes go. I have high arches and wide feet and while they don't offer a ton of arch support I've done trail runs as long as 3 hours in them with no foot problems other than a little discomfort on the ball of one foot, but that's something I get from almost every shoe I've tried. Overall, for the price, great light-weight option!

I've been running in the Brooks Cascadia and am looking for

I've been running in the Brooks Cascadia and am looking for something with a lower profile but a similar level of cushioning and lateral stability (both sides). I'm really curious about these Wildcats but they aren't in the running stores near where I live. Can someone comment on how low to the ground they are compared to the Cascadia or the Fireblade? Also, are the soles flexible -- do they bend when you toe off or stay straight like hiking shoes do? Thanks in advance for your insights.

To make a comparison, the Wildcats are half way between the Fireblades and the Cascadias. They have more of the "softer" feel (but not as soft) that the Cascadia offers, but it also feels lower to the ground (but not as low to the ground) that the Fireblade offers. The soles aren't as flexible as I would prefer, but it didn't take me long to get used to that aspect of the shoe. When you try them on, they have the same feel as the Fireblades; a little more narrow near the toe than what you may be used to in the Cascadia.

Hope this helps!

Nice Sportiva's

By:
March 11, 2009

I picked these up for my wife and she absolutely loves them! She's doing mixed trail and road running and they've been perfect! Unlike other reviews she feels they have great supoort all over the shoe. They also don't feel like a big flat platform and allow for better travel on uneven terrain. The heel has plenty of support but the forefoot has a little room which allows for both swelling and breathing room. The toe box isn't enormous but allows for plenty of movement and seems to cradle the toes really well. All in all I'd say these are our favorite shoes and will continue to be until they make something better.

La Sportiva Wildcat Trail shoe

By:
February 20, 2009

I have worn several other La Sportiva shoes, Lynx and Imogenes. These Wildcats just do not feel supportive at all especially on the forefoot. They are not comfortable and extremely lightweight material for a trail shoe. Soles might be ok,but the feel of the fit is AWFUL. Think twice about buying these if you need good arc support and good forefront support.
