La Sportiva Glacier EVO Mountaineering Boot - Women's

Cross huge glaciers and go on week-long backpacking trips with the La Sportiva Glacier EVO Women's Mountaineering Boot. This versatile boot bridges the gap between heavy hiking and full-blown mountaineering boots. The Reactive Spoiler System in the cuff provides enough flexibility for the approach trail and enough support for glacier travel. This hybrid Glacier Mountaineering Boot is compatible with newmatic crampons and has a full shank to help you wield them with precision. A narrow heel profile and removable EZ flex tongue assure a precision fit from this women's-specific boot.

Bottom Line: Down the trail, through the woods, and into the mountains you go with the La Sportiva Glacier EVO Women's Mountaineering Boot.

I don't have this exact boot, but all the Sportiva mountain boots (including the ones I own) run pretty much true to size.

what is a newmatic crampon? Would the black diamond strap crampon

what is a newmatic crampon? Would the black diamond strap crampon work on this boot? How would you compare the La Sportiva Womens Nepal Evo boot to this boot?

Thanks

A newmatic crampon has a heel lever which clamps to the ridge on the heel of this boot. A newmatic crampon will also have a fabric strap around the toe.The BD Sabertooth is a good example of a 12 point newmatic crampon. The BD contact strap crampon is full straps- toe and hell. It will work here and on any boot.

They are very comfy and light boots. I tried it out for a 2 h hike around the town before going on a big trip to Mt Rainier. The boots did not hurt me at all although I had a 40+ lbs backpack and hiked up 4.5 miles with a 4600 ft elevation gain; so they did not need a break-in period. Crampons were very comfortably fitting on the boots. I treated the leather with a conditioner after purchasing it and gladly they did not got wet when passing through glaciers. I need to note though that my feet are 35.5 and I needed to buy a pair of 38; the sizing is off.

I'm looking for an all-around boot that can handle everything

I'm looking for an all-around boot that can handle everything from light day hiking with a small pack load ~20lbs to backpacking part of the Appalachian trail with ~ 50lb load, and still handle Mt. Rainer and Alaska glaciers while still being comfortable. Would you suggestthe glacier evo or the regular glaciers?

Just wondering what is the difference between the regular Glacier

Just wondering what is the difference between the regular Glacier boots versus the Glacier Evo's?

There are a few differences. First off the EVO is a heavier duty boot made for more of a range from heavy backpacking, glacier travel to mountaineering. It does have a little bit more advanced lacing system with a locking mechanism. The sole is just a little grippier on the EVO for ice or glacier travel. Also the EVO has a 3/4 shank where the other has just a 1/2 shank. One thing I do like better about the regular glaciers is that they are using Perwanger leather which I'm a huge fan of. Both are great boots. Just a little different in a few areas.Hope that helps.
