The La Sportiva Cardiff trail running shoe takes the Rajas' premise and softens up the ride. Designed for less intense, less technical trails, the Cardiff's all-AT rubber outsole delivers a cushy feel that's perfect for dirt roads, buff trails, and easier days. The dual density outsole provides stability, while the Trail Bite heel traction on the sole offers downhill-specific traction and peace of mind.
Bottom Line: Treat yourself to a comfy trail ride in the Cardiff.
I've been extremely loyal to the Saucony brand for running shoes for about the past 10 years. Last year I tried La Sportiva Rajas because I was looking for something to wear for both trail running and for hiking 14ers in the Rockies. Now I'm a convert. Like the Rajas, these are durable, comfortable (after they're broken in, at least), and stable. They're a little bit lighter than the Rajas and don't have quite as much sticky traction, but they still perform great on dirt and rocky trails. I haven't tried them on pavement or on a really long run, but I think they're ideal for shorter, everyday trail use.
Originally bought for general running (road, trail) because a good price.. had never used this brand. But, fit and comfort of shoes make this brand a 'revisit' next time I need shoes. Haven't taken on trail yet, but have been general jogging and around Disney!! No probs!
Ive put about 100 miles on these puppies so far. Both on the road and off, including a 21 miler. They fit a little tighter in the toebox than many other shoes Ive had, but other than that, no complaints out of me!
I have been pretty upset with these shoes and reminded of why it's not a great idea to buy shoes online... Two weeks into using them they are still stiff, have a narrow cut and two of the lace eyelets have broken. Good thing I ordered another pair (different brand though) at the same time.
Running wise the Cardiffs perform great on the trail and have enough support for the road as well. I have also used them on a few speed ascents over 5,000 ft and they held up great from the trail to the boulder fields. The rubber is very stick and the cushion is just enough. Overall great shoe!
This seems to be the light-duty SUV of the Sportiva lineup: Ideal for dirt roads and capable on the road yet unafraid of more technical trails. Blocky, "leveled" treads and not-too-hard rubber sticks well and absorb shock on tamer terrainincluding asphaltwithout sacrificing too much traction on sketchier paths. Lightweight mesh uppers keep them breathing easy at speed. I am a narrow size 12, and these seem very true to size; however, they may not be suited to a wider foot. Aesthetically, they are more orange and silver than the handsome rust and white apparent in the photo, but still exude the trademark Euro Sportiva vibe. If you are looking for a shoe to handle daily mileage on the road and still hold their own in the wild on the weekends, this is a great shoe.
