La Sportiva Mythos Climbing Shoe - Women's - 2007

The La Sportiva Women's Mythos has been their most popular women's climbing shoe for the last ten years. This year's objective: refine this model with a few good changes and make it even better for women. Solution: the heel fit of the women's Mythos is narrower. Result: the ultimate performance women's climbing shoe. The sides of the shoe near the ankle have been lowered to accommodate lower ankle bones. This shoe has all the features of the original model but crafted specially for a woman's fit, plus a new Dri-Lex liner on the tongue for increase comfort. The Mythos is fully randed to take the abusive punishment that crack climbing can dish out. The 1.1mm Laspoflex midsole is stiff enough to edge yet supple enough to smoothly flex when smearing on slabs. The extra high sticky XSV toe rands make this shoe a favorite with thin crack experts. Part of the Mythos' universal popularity stems from the fact that it stretches an incredible 1-1.5 sizes and takes on the shape of any type foot, whether long and skinny or wide and high-volume. They are designed so you can wear them with your toes flat in the most comfortable position yet laterally compressed for edging performance. **La Sportiva recomends sizing down 1/2 size from your street shoes. *AVAILABLE FOR NORTH AMERICAN SHIPMENT ONLY.

Bottom Line: The Mythos will fit, so wear it.

Appreciate this shoe!

By:
June 14, 2007

I bought the women's Mythos because my foot is quite narrow, and the women's shoe has a narrower insole than the equivalent men's size. I would normally wear about a euro 45 or so, but I opted for the size 41. This was based on a lot of forum articles and reviews that stressed the large amount of stretch that occurs in the unlined Mythos model. So initially, my toes were fully knuckled up, and it was an extremely painful break-in for perhaps 40 - 50 hours of climbing and walking. The overall stretch gave me a perfect match with my toes just touching with light force, and the insole falling directly under the sides of my feet. My ability to edge jumped by a factor of two or three, and has remained so as when I've taken the trouble to clean the soles after getting them dirty or chalky, depending on the climbing venue. My only reservation is whether I'll ever be willing to go through that pain again when I need another pair of shoes.

Runs a little large this year...

By:
January 30, 2007

Normally comfortable and wearable, with all-around good performance under most circumstances, this last pair I bought seems to run a little large -- so be forewarned.

My last pair of the green shoes were a size 39. I bought another pair of 39's in early 2007 and find my heel slips out, even with a pair of "sockies" inside. I definitely will be looking for some snug, high-performance shoes for overhangs!

Mythos -- Love 'em!

By:
May 22, 2006

Admittedly, I haven't used very many other brands, but whenever I try others in the store, I always go back to these. They can't be beat as far as comfort and when you're outdoors climbing all day, especially on long routes, it's a huge plus! I never have that nasty pinching at the back of my right foot the way I have in others. They seem to mold to my size and shape!

The BEST in Comfort

By:
July 6, 2006

These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've worn. The ladies version makes them even better with lower ankles and a better fitting heel. Dreamy.

I love these shoes

By:

The women’s Mythos are probably the best climbing shoes I've had yet. They won’t make your toes bleed which is always a plus. The heel part of the shoe is high enough to where it won’t cause pain on the back of your foot. The only downfall is that they have laces; you can just slide your shoe on a jump on a boulder, you have to sit there and lace them up. Other than that I would say that they are by far the best climbing shoe I've worn.

Women's Mythos

By:
October 4, 2007

Excellent shoe for cracks and smearing. Grows a couple of sizes due to use, like all Mythos do. This is my third pair and I love them. Not too great on edges, of course, or face climbing (that's what Katana's are for).

Love the Mythos

By:
June 21, 2005

I love the Mythos. They stick wonderfully! I feel like Spider Women with them on!
They are very comfortable too and really designed for a women’s foot. So far no blisters, sores etc... My toes even feel great in them! Thanks!

These shoes are great, but run big!

By:
October 3, 2005

I really love these shoes, but I would recommend buying at least a full size smaller than your regular shoe. I bought a 1/2 size smaller as La Sportiva recommended but they are too big. They are very comfortable and great to climb in despite being a little large.

Great for Men's Narrow Too

By:
September 11, 2007

I had a pair of men's mythos previously. I liked them a lot, but my feet were too narrow and they stretched too much. This time I sized WELL below what would be expected and they are stretching out to the correct length. The width fits my feet better then any men's shoes ever did, and the rubber is even better then my old pair of mythos had.

it's not THAT ugly

By:
April 19, 2007

These are my second pair of Mythos. I absolutely love everything about the shoe, except for the ugly fluoride dentist green color. Fortunately, the shoe makes up for that in comfort and performance. I can honestly say it's the most comfortable climbing shoe I've ever worn because it really does mold to your foot shape. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the shoe will actually stretch for its entire life (in my experience) so don't be modest, order it a few sizes smaller. I wear womens 6 (roughly 37) and ordered my mythos in size 35, I could even stand to go a size or half size smaller. It takes a very long time, but when the shoe stretches out and feels too lose, you have a nice pair to wear with socks for winter climbing! Love those mythos!

I'm a new climber, and have found that with narrow feet, lace-up shoes fit better. These are perfect.

Everyone wears them for a reason

By:
July 27, 2007

You gotta admit these shoes are amazing in that they fit so many foot profiles and perform relatively well on every kind of route. This shoe is ideal for a narrow foot and/or those with a longer second toe. They're comfortable to jam in cracks and the best for high performance slab climbing. I can even climb 5.10 sport in them if necessary.

Super Versatile Shoe

By: Backcountry.com Alumni
October 10, 2007

I've been climbing is this shoe for 4 years and they never disappoint. I use them on cracks, face, at the gym, etc. They are super comfortable (I can even belay with them on) - I've tried other shoes but nothing compares to the Mythos. BTW - my foot is wide and I have a super high arch.
