Lorpen Silk-Thermolite Ski Socks

The Lorpen S.A.N.S. Ski Sock is super thin and lightweight, yet stacked with performance. If you are trying to get your feet into too-tight fitting ski boots or want a liner sock to wear under a pair of big woolies, you should get your feet in to these thin but warm socks. Knit with real silk, the S.A.N.S. slides easily in to any footwear and eliminates hot spots. Silk is also a great insulator and doesn't add bulk to your socks. Lorpen uses engineered knitting and a seamless toe to maximize insulation, padding, ventilation and comfort. Light weight and smooth as silk.

Bottom Line: Light weight and smooth as silk.

Nice sock, but not Ultra-Thin

By:
November 20, 2006

I jam my 9 1/2 shoe in a 25.0 (size 7) boot for ultra performance. I purchased a couple of pairs of these sock because they claimed to be "Ultra-thin." They are not. They are much thicker then the SANPs and would cut circulation off.

S.A.N.S. socks

By:

I have a Lange foot & my boots are form fitting. These socks are not thin or soft, in fact they don't slide into a ski boot easily & feel like wire mesh. One run & had to remove boots & apply moleskin to protect that chafing. Returned them to the ski store.

I can't believe I've never heard of Lorpen

I wansn't sure who Lorpen was but a buddy suggested I try these as my Smartwool socks were beat. Great sock, loved it! I like the different densities in zones like the shin bone and the bottom of the foot. These are not ultra-thin as described but they fit very comfortably in my backcountry skiing boots (Scarpa Spirit 3) or my alpine boots which are form fitted Surefoot liners (Head Race boots). Durable and long lasting (I've owned this pair for a year now with 60 days of skiing - no holes or flaws) I'm definitely sold on Lorpen socks.
