LEKI Thermolite Antishock Trekking Poles - 1 Pair - 2008
Lock the antishock system on the Leki Thermolite Antishock Trekking Poles on your hike up, and turn the shock-absorbing system on for your downhill journey. The antishock system eases strain on your arms and shoulders as you hike down, but this system will rob power from you on the uphill, which is why it's key to use the Thermolite Trekking Poles' antishock on/off switches. Leki made these trekking poles with slight bends in the upper shaft sections so your wrists maintain neutral, relaxed positions as you hike. Adjust the Thermolite Antishock Poles to the right height for uphill and downhill sections of trail. A mix of aluminum and titanium on the shafts of these poles reduces weight.
Bottom Line: These adjustable trekking poles help maintain your power uphill and absorb shock downhill.
How do you keep the tip/basket from falling off? Mine did without any use yet! Crazy glue? or some other adhesive, so you can replace them if they break?
I have had to get 2 replacement parts now... and am going to have to call Leki today to get my third in... These are great because they have a really low weight, but honestly I would rather carry something a bit heavier. If nothing else Leki has been nice to me about fixing these poles, but honestly I would rather not have to call them period. If you are using this for light hikes... they'd probably work... If you want to use them for extensive back packing, long aproaches and snow fields. Get something a bit tougher...
These would be great because of the anti shock feature on them. With how far your race is going to be, the anti-shock feature will definitely come in handy.
These poles are great for hiking up and down steep slopes (rock, snow, etc...). I did have a bit of an issue trying to adjust one of them, but once I got it set it performed great. They saved my knees hiking up to and down from the Lower Saddle of Grand Teton.
Write your question here...Do you have any pairs that are retractable?I am traveling to the Galapagos Islands and wouldlike to fit them into a suitcase.
I bought these 2 years ago and they absolutely ROCK. I'm terrible about cleaning them as recommended and they've never let me down, literally. I highly recommend poles with anti-shock as they totally save your knees on the up and downhills.
Which trekking poles are best for desert bush, sand dunes and canyon run/hiking? Don't expect it to be wet. Also as I will be doing 155 miles I need the lightest pair available. What do you recommend
Check out Gossamar Gear Lightrek 4 poles for light and functional poles. The Lightrek 4 are two piece poles, weigh - get this - 3.4 oz per pole, and are pretty beefy. If you are OK with a fixed length pole, you can save 1 oz for $50 less (lightrek 3).
