Kelty Trail Dome Tent 4-Person 3-Season

The Kelty Trail Dome 4 Tent offers ample space for four weary hikers, and keeps them cool during the warmest of summer nights with its extremely well-ventilated design. If rain decides to accompany you on your trip, you'll stay dry with the Trail Dome's seam-taped fly, which is easy to install on-the-fly with its buckle connection to the tent body. Complete with gear loft loops, the Trail Dome allows its residents to store gear where it won't interfere with sleep. Taped floor seams increase the likelihood that the night's rain won't become the fifth occupant of the tent

Bottom Line: Well-ventilated yet stormworthy, this is a versatile shelter indeed.

Poles bend easily - poor ventilation.

By:
December 10, 2009

Let me start by saying that overall I like this tent; however, the first time I used it one of the poles bent excessively at the mid-section. Kelty was prompt at exchanging the pole, but the hassle of paying for and shipping the pole was a pain. I went to the local hardware store and purchased a couple of 3.5" long hollow tubes to slide over the poles for added reinforcement for next time. If you want a breeze or want to watch the stars from inside the tent this is not the tent for you. Not much in the way of openings.

Love this Tent!!

By:
October 3, 2006

This Trail Dome tent is all that I hoped for. It sets up quickly and easily. It is also nice and light for a tent its size. It also rained the first time we took it out, and this tent is 100% waterproof. I hope this tent will be the last I ever have to buy.

Good design, bad worksmanship!

By:
August 16, 2006

The tent was very functional as far as design, weight & dimensions, but the quality of the worksmanship that went into the tent was poor. The rain fly rods attached a little too close to the zipper causing it to stretch and make it very difficult to zip as well as creating a separation in the zipper allowing water to leak through.

Easy to set up, light, nice tent

By:
August 21, 2006

This tent is very light and easy setting up. My friend bought very similar tent from other company for cheaper, but quality of each material is very different. In long run, I am pretty sure I made a better decision. One minimal thing is two poles run diagonally across the tent is kind of weak. They are already bit bent, but maybe they are supposed to be like that.

Decent THREE man tent

By:
February 24, 2009

Hard to chose a star rating because we've yet to use it BUT don't expect to fit 4 in here unless you're short and cozy. 6'8" across? No way. I'm 5'11" and lying on my back with toes pointing up, my head and heels are tight to the walls. Box says 6'8" x 8'3". I measure 68"x84". Three lengthwise will work but there won't be a ton of room left. Luckily we bought it as a 3 man! Also, as another reviewer said, the door zip gets pulled quite tight at the top of the door. Hope the zipper lasts. The fly covers pretty well but does not quite overhang the entire door. Not ideal in heavy rain. A good tent when on a good sale though.

nice tent, good price

By:
January 12, 2009

I've only had a chance to set this tent up once, but without opening the instructions, it took less than ten minutes. should work out good for a couple of nights with a couple of people. take a bigger tent for a long weekend with 4 people. This is my second tent from Kelty & the first one is still going strong after at least 5 seasons, It is just too big for short trips. Back Country was reasonably priced with great service...
