Kelty Light Year XP Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Synthetic

The Kelty Light Year XP 20-Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag uses a half-length zipper and foot vent to help you stay comfortable in a wide range of temperatures. Offset quilted construction eliminates any dead spots in the Climashield XP synthetic insulation, so you don't wake up shivering in the middle of the night. Kelty even lined the Light Year XP Sleeping Bag with polyester microfiber material to help it warm up quickly when you slide in for the night.

Bottom Line: Sleep comfortably in warm or cold weather thanks to the versatile Kelty Light Year XP Sleeping Bag.

cold feet

I used the Kelty LIght Year XP 20 this fall on a Mt. Whitney summit trip. The bag is very light, and compresses nicely for a synthetic bag (although the included stuff sack is a wierd shape).
My only beef is with the foot vents. While they could be nice if you overheat, I seemed to keep pushing aside the baffle in my sleep, causing a lack of insulation for my footsies.
I did use this bag down to 17 degrees F and was warm with my insulating layers on. (except for the feet of course)
I did return the bag, but would still recommend it if you're not pushing the temperature rating to the limit.

Lightweight Without Lightening Your Wallet

By:

Chose this bag for it's lightweight and low cost properties. It has good functionality for a bag at this price point. I am 5'1" and on the blocky side. I don't feel crowded and I don't loose loft to tight quarters. I appreciate the foot vents alot because even at home in my bed I like to hang my feet out. When it's cold and I pull my feet in the footbox does fine keeping the tootsies warm. When I first got it I was disappointed with the loft of the ground side of the bag. The picture looks like alot more loft but it performs well in the outdoors where it counts. Happy Hiking =0)

very nice

By:

I bought this sleeping bag for camping in WY. I'm 6'2" and bought the long. I enjoyed it so much I use it as my covers in my dorm room. I've used it in temps from 20-60 and the bag worked awsome. The thing that would be nicer is that when I sleep in my bed I like to spread out a bit. The bag doesn't let me do that(Keep in mind though thats not what it was made for). Overall, a great bag.
