Kelty Light Year Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

Kelty gave the Light Year 0 Degree Down Sleeping Bag 650-fill goose down for warmth and a zippered foot vent for light cooling. This basically means you can sleep comfortably on winter camping trips, and not overheat when it warms up to 20 or 30 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also use the Light Year Sleeping Bag's hip-length, two-way locking zipper to vent hot air or lock it in. Slip your head into this four-season Kelty mummy bag's form-fitting hood and drift off to dream.

Bottom Line: The Kelty Light Year 0 Degree Down Bag's 650-fill down and zippered foot vent provide warmth and cooling options on your camping trips.

The Half Zipper

By:
June 16, 2009

The half zipper drives me nuts! It probably seemed like a good idea on paper but the fact that is doesn't zip all the way down severely limits the bags usefulness. I would not purchase this bag again for that reason alone.

I recommend the ProLite 4. It's both lightweight & has an R Value of 3.2. I currently own four different Therm-a-Rest sleeping pads & the ProLite 4 is my favorite.

Excellent Expedition Bag

By:
December 15, 2008

This is an expedition bag for sure. I recently used this bag on Rainier at camp Muir and was very warm and cozy. The zipper only zips halfway down the bag which makes it harder to get in and out of but that doesn't matter when its -10 outside, because once you get in this baby its warm and toasty. I would recommend a lighter smaller bag for low land camping/hiking.

Cold weather only!

By:
October 27, 2008

This sleeping bag is definitely designed only for cold weather. I used it on Mt. Kilimanjaro and it was perfect, but when it came to my safari right after it was way too hot. There is a zipper at the foot of the sleeping bag that is supposed to provide a little ventilation. I used it to stick my feet out, but it was still too hot. The zipper only zips halfway down the bag. So I couldn't even open the bag all the way and use the top flap as a blanket. It was either in the bag or out. Good for cold weather only!
