Kelty FC 3.0 Kid Carrier - 1100cu in

Not only does the Kelty FC 3.0 Kid Carrier give your child a comfortable place to ride and protection from the elements with a sun/rain hood, it also provides plush suspension for you. Adjust the back panel to fit your torso length, and let the well-padded, dual-density waist-belt and shoulder straps support up to 50lb of kid and gear. Kelty added a large zippered pocket to the FC 3.0 Kid Carrier, so you have place to store lunch, water, and kid necessities. Now buckle your child into the secure five-point harness and hit the trails.

Bottom Line: The Kelty FC 3.0 Kid Carrier keeps both you and your child comfortable from trailhead to trailhead.

Great product!

By:

Excellent product! After one hike, even my highly skeptical husband was impressed! We took our 2 year old daughter down the old Spanish Steps in Guam, a 700 ft decent down ropes, ladders, rocks, and every other kind of obstacle you can think of, even a cave, all in the 90 degree tropical heat of Guam. Our daughter never complained about being hot, and the sun screen doubled as a face protector for her from small branches, and my husband said it was comfortable as you can expect from having an extra 35 lbs on your back. We can't wait to use these things into the ground.

Very nice

By:

This is a very nice back pack, designed for the carrying kids :). It is very easy to put on and the baby feels very safe in it. It has plenty of storage for diapers, wipes and water as well as a detachable light backpack for extra clothes or keys/wallet etc. When we're on the trail I carry the kid and my wife carries the light pack. It also features a small mirror that is chained to the pack and you can check on the kid. However, we managed to break the chain and now I keep it in the small belt pocket.

It really depends on if your child can hold his/her own head up yet. This pack is not designed to carry a baby under 6 months old.

Well it mentions that the max child weight would be 50 lbs. But also here are the dimensions of the pack. Hopefully that helps?

Dimensions 19 x 15 x 30 inches

These are a God'send!

By:
October 28, 2008

In all reality these are the best thing we've bought all year! We have our 2 youngest that aren't able to hike much yet so my wife has had out 5 month old in a sling and I've had my 2 year old on my shoulders.....I love 'em but what a pain! So we bought a pair of these and to the mountains we go. There are tons of adjustments which make them plenty comfortable, including for the kiddo's. These packs feel very stable and actually carry a ton of stuff considering. The only issue now is trying to convince my 5 year old that he can still hike and doesn't need a ride:)

Infant Carrier is the bomb

By:

This is a great product. Kelty make a variety of cariers with different options. Make sure you get the optios you want. The sun-shade is nice, and spots to hang toys are helpful.

Great

By:
December 9, 2008

We have a 2 1/2 year old who just loved hiking in this. She did not complain about her legs or anything one time during our hikes. This carrier was very comfortable for the extra weight that is on your back. LOTS of great stroage compartments. And the sun/rain protector is even great because my daughter didn't get hit in the face with a ton of branches.

Kelty carrier

By:
May 1, 2008

As my child grows I was finding my original kelty pathfinder wasn't holding her weight very well. This carrier is much better constructed and very solid feeling with a child weighing 35 pounds. However Kelty added a storage area that takes up way too much space and conflicts with my child. The torso area fits her well, but the legs get cramped by the new storage compartment on the bottom. The detachable backpack is all I need for our child's necessities as well as my own. The low storage compartment also makes it difficult to hike as the extra weight is way too low on the frame. The carrier comes with a mirror, but I bought a camping mirror for $2 that I used with my old one. In the end great construction, solid feel, but poor ergonomics.

not the most comfortable bag

By:
May 1, 2008

the zipper that attaches the baby bag to the carrier broke off. I was hoping that it would at least last till after my trip was done. no such luck. overall ok bag. cheap zippers.

Kelty Performance meets Style

By:
May 28, 2008

I owned the previous Kelty Pathfinder and I couldn't have been more pleased when Kelty introduced three color variations. I purchased the black FC 3.0. I am 100% pleased with the new design! The carrier feels more solid & disperses my daughters weight (now 36 lbs) better than the previous version. I have yet to have a backache. The extra storage is a point of conflict because while it is great to be able to pack extra gear, it irritates my daughter with the lack of leg room. Overall, the FC 3.0 is a fabulous design & I recommend this carrier to any performance oriented parents.

Kelty FC 3.0 Kid Carrier - Good Buy

By:
August 22, 2008

I have just used this carrier 3 times thus far, but have no real complaints thus far. It is adjustable to various heights for the child as well as the parent. I wish it had a pocket or strap holder for a water bottle on the front lap belt. Besides that, it is very comfortable, easy to take on and off with the child in it, and provides good sun shade.

I have carried my baby boy all over Paris with this pack and him and I love it. It is perfect and the rain shield works perfectly.
