Is this water resistant?

yea treat it with a DWR and it will get better but it will be fairly water resistant without it. A DWR will make it bead more.

She may be on the edge of this pack not fitting depending on her torso length. To measure torso length checkout this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qvt29gv0X8 . If her torso is too small for the Agile check out the Kelty Red Cloud W: http://www.backcountry.com/store/KEL0634/Kelty-Red-Cloud-Backpack-Womens-5000cu-in.html. It fits a torso range from 12" - 17". Hope that helps.

This pack has a wide range for torso fit (16-22in), a typical medium fit would be around 18-19. So yes, it would work for you.
