Kavu Portside Jacket - Women's - 2008

Thanks to a DWR finish, a hood, and a thick waistband and cuffs, the Women's Kavu Portside Full-Zip Jacket fights inland drizzle and port-or starboard-side ocean spray. The Portside Jacket's gusseted shoulder cut enhances your range of motion whether you're handling five bags of groceries or letting out the mainsail. Soft mesh lines the hood and body of this Kavu jacket.

Bottom Line: If you're left out in the rain, at least you have the Portside.

Good Lookin'

This is a great looking jacket, and I have received multiple compliments on it. It definitely blocks the wind nicely and the mesh liner is very soft and comfortable to the touch on the skin. It also breathes fairly well if you're trecking it somewhere. Though, I would recommend ordering a size up from normal. The sleeves are a little short than what I normally order for a medium; may want to be especially advised of this if you have wider shoulders that can take that stretch away.

Is it waterproof, or water repelant?

Nylon with DWR, water replant. It will be just as water proof as a ski jacket that has DWR are on it. you can buy a DWR wash or spray and respray it when it starts to wear off. http://www.backcountry.com/store/NIK0042/Nikwax-TX-Direct-Spray-On.html

Has a great look and cut. Thin lightweight with a mesh liner. Pretty breathable and blocks the wind. Waterproof enough for light and quick storms- the water rolls right off. I think if it got saturated in a long storm it would seep though.
