Karhu Betty Telemark Ski - Women's - 2007

From the backcountry to the frontcountry, the Karhu Women's Betty Telemark Ski performs with all-mountain versatility. The mid-fat Betty's wide tip to blasts through a few inches of the fresh stuff, while it's narrow waist provides quick edge-to-edge control. This is valuable when you need bomber edge grip for traversing uneven or crusty snow through the backcountry. The Betty Telemark Ski lays hard turns on groomers thanks to its die-cut titanal reinforcements. Karhu trimmed up the Betty from past years with a lightweight and earth-friendly Greenlight wood core. The Greenlight core features environmentally-gentle Paulowna wood, which matures two- to four-times faster than comparable hardwoods. If you're an experienced alpine skier looking for new challenges in telemarking, the Betty is an all-mountain performer that will ease your transition.

Bottom Line: An all-around ski that you'll enjoy in any condition, off-piste or on.

You can't go wrong with a pair of the Black Diamon Ascension, although really any skin would work. If you want to save weight, check out the Black Diamond GlideLite as another viable option.

Great Skis

By:

I love my Betty's. I'm a tele skiier, and I've used these skis in all types of conditions. I found them to be awesome in icy conditions (great edges), and they cut through crud with no problems, and are fat enough at the tip to float over powder too. But their best feature is how unbelievably light they are - I love touring with them, and carrying them on my back when I have to is no problem!

I am sure that your lady is full of muscle and an excellent skier and while I am sure she has skied her fair share of mens skis in her day there is one major difference. Today's womens skis are not just softer versions of mens skis with pretty graphics. The best womens skis will have a different flex point than the male equivalent that will accommodate the female frame (hips) and a women's lower center of gravity.
