A removable thermal heat shield footbed makes the KEEN Men's Whistler Clog a warm choice even in chilly weather. KEEN's dual-climate temperature-reacting rubber outsole actually changes its stiffness as the ground warms or cools to provide you with optimum traction in all conditions. Whether you wear the Whistler Clog out for day in the summer or a winter driveway shoveling session, it keeps your foot feeling great and provides great traction.
Bottom Line: The KEEN Whistler Clog—for any season.
I have been looking for a shoe to wear in all conditions and this one is it. No shoes in my house, and this one is a cinch to take on and off without your hands. They are comfortable in both extreme cold and warm conditions and are true to size. I wear them everywhere and might even buy another pair to have inside!
As others have noted, this shoe has been my exclusive shoe for the Ann Arbor winter, work/play/social... no problem.
This shoe works well in a business casual professional setting, at least in the winter, though I'm switching back to my Borns for the spring.
Easy on/off (airport security lines, no problem), durable exterior (though after 6 months of, literally, daily use, the outsole has begun to separate slightly from the leather and a seam has broken on the elastic near the top of the shoe) and, yes, very warm (even in sub-zero weather, I never felt even remotely cold... including tromping through snow, though, as you can imagine, the snow in the shoe quickly melted).
A quick note about a sensitive subject: Foot Odor... I've had other clogs that quickly became anti-social with foot odor (who knew I had that tendency?) but these have proven to be highly resilient, in the eyes (nose?) of this odor-sensitive user.
Overall, great shoes--- And the price right now can't be beat!
Very comfortable, warm and very waterproof! My husband wears them everyday! Soles are good for slippery surfaces! A good everyday shoes for cold and wet days.
Wanted a sturdy but easy to slip on pair of winter mocs for the quick run to the wood pile or store in the winter. They are just fine, fit to size, comfortable and warm. Even good for a short walk on plowed roads.
Let's start off with the same thing I said in my other reviews of the Slip-on Snow Clogs in this class.
I have owned several different Snow Clogs. Mostly because I could never find exactly one that fit my criteria. I was looking for something that was causal, warm, waterproof and a slip-on. I live in Chicago and as of the last two years the winter weather has gotten colder and we are getting more snow than ever. I need to find a Clog that would work good in the snow, keep my feet dry and warm enough for the zero degree days and the last criteria was to be able to wear during the day in the office with a pair of Khaki pants. So big boots were out!
I currently have 3 pairs of different slip-on winter mocs, Keen Whistlers, Merrell Shiver Moc, and these Salomon Snowclogs. They are all Waterproof, insulated, have snow traction Soles, and of course a slip-on style...I love slip-ons.
The Keen Whistler were my favorite Moc of all three...they are ultra comfortable...they are wider than the others and the build and design is great!!! The back of the Slip on has some raised grooves that make it easy to step out of using the other shoe to hold them down...total hands-free in and out. These were so easy to get in and out of. I love that! They have a great all-around sole. Low Profile yet still offering great traction in every condition. They are warm but not as warm as the Shiver Moc. You/I could wear these to about 20 maybe 15 degrees and be ok. zero if you are not moving will get cold. The big rubber toe as much as I hated it at first functions well and overall I really grow to love the look. Many people asked me where I got them. Of the three this really was my favorite. It is the all-around winner. I just wish they could be a little warmer considering the chicago weather seems to like to hang around the zero mark more often. The wool lining is so comfortable on these...they are easily the most comfortable moc I have put on yet...well maybe the Merrell Encore Chill Slider were ever so slightly better but they cant handle the snow and wet like these clogs can nor did they have the traction. You wont be disappointed!! My favorite!
This is my second pair of Keen slip-ons. I didn't get them for the warmth, I just liked the style the best. I'm not sure that they're any warmer that non-insulated shoes, but like I said - that just wasn't an issue with me. The are wide in the toe box which is very important to me! The seem to fit true-to-size, unlike some other Keen models that I've owned over the years. The traction is great, the look great, and are durable.
I bought these for a 3-day trip to Detroit. Being able to take them off quickly at the airport, and then again on the plane for comfort was great. They are nice enough looking for slacks, and obviously perfect for jeans as well. A great all-around shoe for travel.
After wearing them with the special "warm" insole, I removed it and put in a pair of Superfeet insoles. Made them FAR more comfortable. But then I typically put Superfeet in all my shoes so that is the feel that I expect. Since the warm insole that comes with these is so thick. using the thickest Superfeet (green) is no problem, and actually leaves a little bit of extra room in the shoe this way.
Would the black color stain in the kitchen? My brother is a restaurant chef and wondered how they would hold up in the kitchen-- can they be protected or cleaned?
They don't stain. Especially if you treat them with one of the various Nikwax products. They wear very well! All keens are made with non marking outsoles if you are worried about the sole of the shoe marking up the floor.
Cool shoes- slip on easily but stay on easily as well. My main pair of out and about town shoes. Just started wearing them, but they handle the rain, puddles, dirt, and debris without a problem. Wish they had more colors to choose from.
Yes , this is the four wheel drive of winter mocassin shoes. My husband thinks they are the greatest and it took some time to convince him ( he is a tennis /hikng/muck boots man. The choice was an alternative to outdoor slippers as he needed something to take the dog out. Now, he can shovel the stairs ,too!
I ordered my regular size and it fit well, though if you're wearing thick socks they are a little tight. They are quite warm so they make a good winter shoe and are very comfortable for long walks.
I was looking for something I could slip on and off without having to get down and use my hands and these work pretty well for that. The soles are a little more slippery on ice than my other boots.
I bought the Keen Whistler Clog hoping they would be wide enough, warm enough and provide the traction I was looking for in snow and ice. They filled the bill on all points. I live in Houston, but travel to Canada extensively. They were warm in sub-zero temperatures last week, and allowed me to comfortably navigate on a frozen Lake Louise, AB. With an extremely wide "pancake" foot, they were comfortably wide enough for me. I highly recommend this shoe!!!!
These clogs run small in size.I bought these because of the rave reviews.I wear size 9 American size,I ordered one in size 10 and one in size 11 to play it safe. The size 10 didnt fit at all and the size 11 was tight, sent them both back. Cost $40 in shipping and insurance. This is the second review I wrote on these clogs,do you only publish the favorable reviews ?
