The Keen Men's Voyageur Hiking Shoes are jeeps for your feet. The Voyageurs love dropping into low gear for gnarly terrain, and mesh windows let their passengers breathe on warm summer days. Aggressive four-millimeter outsole lugs grip rock, sand, mud, and scree. Dual-density EVA midsoles make the ride plush. These Keen shoes don't need roll bars, but the S3 Heel Support Structures help prevent your ankles from rolling, and ESS shanks provide torsional stability on uneven terrain. Bumpers on the Voyageurs protect the occupants' toes from ouch-inducing hazards.
Bottom Line: Drop into low, rev your engine, and climb that mountain.
The fit is pretty good, and they are one of the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever owned. The only downside is that mine came with 45" laces, which were a bit too short. I contacted both Back Country and KEEN about getting longer laces in a matching style, but neither companies could help me. So I ended up buying a pair of 54" laces somewhere else and I'm completely satisfied, although I wish they matched.
I've been a Keen fan for several years now and love their comfort but my Voyagers have let me down as the soles have worn out. In less than 6 months of light duty daily wear the lugs under the ball of the foot have worn through revealing they are actually hollow - not solid rubber. Also the sole is delaminating along the outside of one. The tops are still pristine looking, laces strong but the soles are shot. I've never had a pair of shoes wear out this quickly and for the price am left scratching my head. Will look at other brands as replacements.
This is the second pair of Keen shoes that I've bought and now I'm hooked. The first pair were sandals and now these. They are roomy without being cumbersome and they have an outdoor look that without looking overly rugged. They are extremely durable, comfortable and aesthetically acceptable. I love them.
Like all Keens they are nice and wide and don't squish the toes. Leave the pointy shoes for the pixies, most humans have feet that widen at the toes... I've been wearing the them in for a few weeks and the design around the ankle is excellent, grips exactly where it should so there is no blisters at the back of the heal. My only complaint is there is far too much inner arch support, and that's not a part of the foot that should be weight bearring anyway. I'm getting blisters along my arch from running in them. Hopefully that inner sole should compress with time. Otherwise great shoe.
first day i wore them had to go thru 3 airports; stand 30 mins in boston green line, hike to fenway, hike back to green line. had no pain b/c shoes are firm with wide place for toes. so comfortable haven't noticed if there is an orthotic in them. not exactly cool looking but if ever get into kicking contest i would want these.
I bought these shoes for my husband after hearing him complain about his old tennis shoes one too many times. We were heading to Europe and he needed something sturdy and great for everything. He loved these shoes from the moment he put them on his feet and has felt the same way since. He normally wears a 9.5 and a 10 fit perfectly.
How wide? I have fairly wide feet. I would say these are about the same width, or a little bit narrower than the Teva Omnium Sandals (D width). Hope this helps.
Whoo hoo! The most amazing hiker I've worn in a long time. I have flat feet and chose not to wear my insoles. So comfortable and my feet felt so refreshed even after a few hours of walking in the boots. I'm looking forward to my next outing in my Voyageur Hikers! Even if it's not hiking, I'll wear them anywhere. Awesome product guys!
These were fairly comfortable right out of the box, but became a second skin after just 5 miles. Man, I love this shoes! Toe box: GREAT, Heel fit: near great, durability: excellent, traction: GREAT, looks: Excellent!
I have been hiking/backpacking for over 40 years. I have tried every hiking boot known to man and these beat all others by a mile. I have used Targee II Mid and also Voyageur. I did a 7 day backpack in Olympic National Park last summer (85 miles - 3 days off trail) and were extremely comfortable. I did a 9 day backpack in the Grand Canyon (75 miles - 2 days off trail). Friend on the trip were afraid my boots wouldn't handle the steep off trail terrain but my boots did better than their 3/4 shank boots.
I just finished hiking the AT in these shoes. They are much more durable than other comparable shoes. Usually I had to replace shoes every 500 miles or 1 month, but you get about 20% to 30% miles out of these shoes. At some point the soles with start ripping off (they are just glued), but it does not effect the shoes very much. I really recommend them, especially for something serious like a thruhike.
Hey Jason,The shoes handle the wet really well. They will expel moisture well but if you're going to be in a lot of river situations of streams you may look at some Keen sandals or something more adapt to that sort of activity.
Lighter and more breathable than the TARGEE II Mid-Hiking, or so I've found. Not great for anything serious, seeing as there is no ankle support. But a good, light shoe for walking and light travel.
Checking Keen out on the web I was torn between the 'Voyager' and the TARGEE II. I decided on the 'Voyager' but there seemed to be a number of issues with customer ratings about the sizes of the TARGEE II where reviewers were advising to order one size up. I didn't know if this would apply to the "Voyager' so I was a bit unsure because I was ordering on-line. In the end I decided to order my correct size and was quite nervous when the box turned up. No worries. The fit was perfect and the shoes were all i expected.
This is a great shoe for combining both activities as long as your bouldering problems don't get too hard core. These are not exactly smooth, sticky, climbing soled shoes.
Most stable hiking shoe I have on loose, wet ground. On my first outing with these I was caught in a violent mountain thunderstorm with pouring rain, lightening and hail that covered the trail. Didn't slip once when scurrying down the steep trail, even in the hail! Great shoe. Probably will get another pair in mid height.
Nice beginner hiking shoe, make sure you break it in before putting it to strenuous use. I have really wide feet, and it's not quite as wide as I would like it to be.
But that being said, it's a really good shoe, and I would (and have) recommend it to friends.

I have owned these shoes for almost 60 days and have worn them every day! they are the most comfortable shoes that i have ever had on my feet. keens just seem to fit my feet well. the toe box is roomy but not too wide, the soles offer good traction in most all conditions, wet, dry,in the dirt or on a rocky trail. I would highly recommend them for light, fast hiking or just every day wear.
This is my sixth pair of KEENS........nylon eyelets wore thin and broke, dealer and KEEN replaced them no charge!! Great hiking boot with the comfort of house slippers....I love 'em!!!!!!!!
I use these things for everyday walking shoes and they are great. Hiking in them would be great if on a smooth trail, etc... Not so sure about tougher outing.
